The fittings at the bottom of the fuel tank. One is smaller than the other.
Does it matter which one is used for supply?

yes. iirc, on early tanks, supply is the larger of the two. inside the tank, it has a filter on the inside, a kind of mesh "sock" that keeps crap from heading downstream. the return line should be the small one. i believe that the later tanks had two fittings of identical size.
