Nominations closed. A separate thread will open with the poll. Thanks to all who contributed nominees, those who seconded and the great cars up for the contest.
The COTM contest this month will be a competition of 914s that have been driven/raced in Autocross, or Solo, events. Solo events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver’s ability and the car’s handling characteristics. The COTM contest is open to those 914s that were driven to an autocross/solo racing event(s). The first five (5) cars nominated, and seconded will be competing. Contest will run until April 30th 2014.
RULES for the Autocross COTM May-June 2014:
1. Nominees must state the name and location of at least one event in which the car competed (minimum 1, no maximum)
2. The car must have been driven to the event (i.e. had state tags/license plate)
3. Cars that were trailered, towed or otherwise not driven on public roads to the event are EXCLUDED.
4. Any engine, suspension, interior, wheel or tire setup is permitted (including stock, of course).
To all autocrossers, cone dodgers, and anyone else who may have dragged a cone 200 yards stuck under the front of the car, the 914World is ready and waiting to see the cars, setups, and events across the country where your car may have oversteered into some driving excitement!
Note: dedicated autocross builds not driven to events are of course welcome to compete in OPEN and TRACK COTM contests.
You want a 914 that was driven to an AX.... well how about this!
Driven from Hurst, Texas to Porsche Parade 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT. 2432 miles round trip. Had a bottom end start knocking 8 hours down the road in Dalhart,Texas. Trailered 8 hours back to Hurst, changed the motor for the worn spare in 11 hours, then drove to Salt Lake. Blew the oil cooler leaving Grand Junction Colorado. Changed the oil cooler in Salt Lake in the hotel parking lot.
Won class in Parade AX the next day!
Plus.. this car is a 28 year AX warrior in both SCCA and PCA.
I nominate Borderline's (Bill Charron's) yellow '72. One of the top cars in the Loma Prieta region, Bill competes in most of the events run at the Marina Airport near Monterey, CA.
I nominate Brittains yellow monster.

Some to consider-
Huey-
Woody
SirAndy-
Trekkor-
I don't think Huey and Trekkor drive to events.
I will second Betty's car....
Gratuitous plug for a car that really hasn't been nominated
I'll nominate Ken's car 'cause he terrorized me in it one dark night in the Smokey Mountains doing 80mph on a 20mph curve. And he's kinda big into AX.
I second Sir Andy's car
Competed every event last season with the Sports Car Club of NH.
Best finish of 3rd with slippery 195 Eagle GTs.
The guys at the club like it enough to use it as the header on their facebook page.

If I base my decision on color combo, it would be Trekkor's.
If I base my decision on purpose built modifications, it would be Ury's.
followed by Britain's, or is it that other way around ?
If I base my decision on proven universal functionality, I would pick Huey.
If I base my decision on the ugliest exhaust system I have ever seen, it would be Sir Andy's.
I was going to nominate ConeDodger's car, but now it's too p r e t t y.
I have to think about it more...
What were we talkin' about again ?
...oh, yeah. I nominate Ury's car.
Lately I've been trailering my car to events but it still does occasionally get driven on the street. This was last Sunday.

I second Woody's car!
Not only does he drive it on the street - it has steer horns on the front trunk he takes off for AX events.!
I second Clay's car. Orange ROOLS!!

A few years ago.
oh wait, this is an Autocross COTM thread, so here's an Autocross picture:
and an autocross video, less than 1 second from FTD to a GT3RS(I got overall 3rd from FTD, the two drivers of the RS got 1st & second). Fairly simple course set up, there were a lot of first timers...
Wish I had a taller 2nd gear....

I'm not a fan of this format either but it was open to someone to take it over and Shawn volunteered. When Shawn gets tired of it or too busy to run it anymore remember you can always be next. I ran it for awhile. It's not as easy as it looks. I had an all female owner one once that I think raised a few hairs IICC.
MYGOKART
Street driven and I autocross the snot out of it.

Once.....a long time ago....
I was a Cub scout leader.
It was the pinewood derby race and an argument ensued between two Dads about the legality of the cars and the rules.
I'll never forget one Dad burying his head with his hands......"....I just came to have fun and race the little cars."
I think the pictures are coooool.
Keep it up.
