Looking at all these V8 powered teeners got me thinking (and it almost hurt too)...
Are there any German/ American Muts? What other Muts exist?
Here's a start:
Ford Cobra - Britt AC Bristal with Ford BB power
Jensen Healy - Britt with Chrysler BB power
Pantera - Italian with Ford BB power and a Chrysler warrenty sold through Mercury dealers.
Sunbeam Tiger (who made that?) - Yet another Brittish car with American Iron.

IIRC, Panteras are usuually 351 Cleveland powered, Which is a 335 series motor and closer to a small block than a Big Block.
How about Caterham Super 7 = A british copy or a british car powered by a one of several Ford 4 cylinders

Oh yeah Land Rover was using BMW engines in the Range Rover until this year (or is it next)
Aparently Cadillac is inking a deal to run BMW (or Possibly Fiat) Diesels in the EC.

Not to nitpick, but isnt it a Shelby Cobra? And the first cobras had small blocks

That was a Sunbeam Alpine (kinda obscure british roadster like the AC) that they hired Shelby to put a V8 in after the Shelby Cobra was released.

T he original Cobra was developed from the Ace, launched in 1953. The Ace was itself developed from a racer designed by John Tojeiro (later, to give his endorsement to the British DAX Cobra replica). It featured independent suspension by transverse leaf springs, Bristol power and Ferrari inspired bodywork. The body style changed on the production Ace and power was by AC's alloy 1,991cc , ohc , six; a well-known unit originally designed by AC's founder, John Weller, in the 192Os.
Shelby...from what I have heard....used the design but didn't pay any royalties....
He also "resurrected" some frames in the 90s that had titles, never registered and had been in a fire....they suddenly showed up on the market as "new" 1965 ish models built from spare parts....I also heard he paid cash for his heart transplant after he sold these cars.....
Just what "I" have heard....could be urban legend....dunno.

There was a special edition MGBGT that came out in the 90s sometime that used that engine too.. I think it was called the RV8. Also, don't the euro Elises use an Opel engine?

true story I saw in Kit car magazine way back then. 90's

Ford contour uses a Chrome cat on the hood and calls them a Jaguar.
BMW washed their car in hot water and called it a mini.
Love them Panteras probably would sell both my teeners for one of them.

British Noble M12 uses a supercharged Ford V-6 and trans. Only avail here w/o engine and trans to make it a kit car.

Not all motor mutts, but...
But V12 Jaguar XJS's have GM - TH400 transmissions - even several years after Jaguar became part of Ford. 
Jeep likes their own (and AMC's, Chrysler's, Buicks's etc) motors but gets transmissions from someone else too; Peugoet (French), Aosin (Japanese, humorously they also supply transmissions to Toyota), Getrag (German).
DiamlerChysler 3.0 V6s back to the 80's are Mitsubishi motors.
All sorts of small chevy diesels are Isuzu motors.

There were factory MGB-GT V8 in the early 70s also (Buick V8), hardtops only, no convertibles. The Land Rover Discovery used the Buick V8 until they converted the BMW engine and now the Jag engine (ford based).

No one mentioned the Jenson Interceptor, a big British GT with a Chrysler 440 and automatic tranny.
Or the Bizzirini, an Italian GT with a Chevrolet 327.
Or the various British built Can-Am and GT racing cars from Lola, McLaren, BRM, March, Cooper, Lotus, etc. powered by Ford and Chevy V-8's.
Also I thought I had read that old Rolls used GM auto trannys.
Got to be some more!

I've got a friend whose uncle has a '74. Its really nice, though lately it hasn't come out of the garage since he's been reupholstering it's seats (we thought they looked good before) Very unique car; with endless power. We saw him do a burnout in 5th, and then leave the parking lot and squeal for over a mile down the road.
Joe, according to this guy (whose name also happens to be Joe

Question: Is this for factory muts only or cool customs. I've seen beetles with blown v8's, and Triumphs w/ SBC's and Grand national engines and lots of other wierd stuff. I can't think of any more factory muts though

Contours and Mystiques are Mazda 626 or 6's. GM owns part of Isuzu, Saab, Fuji Heavy Industries(read Subaru), and Saab has a new car based on the Impreza built by Subaru.

There is a guy in my area that has a volvo wagen with a BUILT 5.0. No mods to the car body so it looks totally stock.

My dad has a 69 rolls. It has a GM trans, but they couldn't just use it out of the box.. they had to british-ize it. It's reconfigured for electric shifting. If the battery is dead you can't get it out of park!

Hows this for a twist Corvair with a late model C4 porsche engine and all wheel drive running gear. I had some larger pictures and misplaced them. This thing is really nice.
