914World.com _ 914World Garage _ SoCal'ers... Corona is in the news

The huge dam (Prado Dam) a mile from my house (also 300feet lower and downstream from my house) has a leak/seapage issue... so much water backed up behind the dam that it flooded the corona municipal airport under 8 feet of water....

they evacuated 1000 people who are a mile west of the dam....

Army core of engineers have the dam stabilized IPB Image

cool to watch from a civil engineering student point of view IPB Image

I read somewhere that there use to be a city located right in the middle of that dam, and after a number of floodings, they built the dam, which obviously, buried that city. That area gets alot of runoff from Chino, etc.

Color me nervous, my house is several miles downstream and less than 500 yards from the banks of the river.
And me with no flood insurance.
I've never lost $700k before and I'm hoping this won't be my first. IPB Image

dam is NORTH of the 91 and EAST of the 71 then the river turns west and continues west to the ocean.....

i live South of the 91 freeway up in the sierra del oro area.

Nice area there. Commute is brutal, my mom and dad use to live on the east end of Corona, just off California and the 15 FWY. That area is just booming, I use sell new homes in South Corona too. IPB Image In fact I just turned down a job in Corona because of the commute through Riverside on the 91 FWY, 43 miles one way from Hemet, figured one and a half hours min each way. IPB Image

I'm at Tustin ave. and the 91, it's technically Orange but used to be Olive, some still call it Orange-Olive. I know, too much info.

Hopefully I'm far enough downstream that if god forbid something did happen the water would mellow out by then, but from what I've read that aint realistic.
I'm south of the river, the only thing between me and it is one block and a brick wall.

Sammy, we are neighbors...I live off riverdale and glassell, behind the 7-11 on riverview ave. (how's that for a street name for drainage cannal) My neighbor's son works for the army corps of engineers and told me that we should be fine- if we ever have a problem it would flood to the west where the river curves into Anaheim.
