914World.com _ 914World Garage _ FI Question

75 / 2.0 FI

Backdated exhaust.

Motor recently rebuilt (so recent, car is still in the shop being tuned).

Shop is saying to me:

1 Cold start - fires right up - runs perfectly while cold
2 Mid Range at idle - runs rough - wants to stall
3 Warm at idle - runs perfectly

Will know more later today, they can only see the issue for about the four minutes it takes to get warmed up. So they only have a short window to make any adjustments.

New hoses all around, new fuel pump and filter, CHT, there isn't much that isn't new - exception Dizzy, and most FI parts (MPS, etc.)

Just tossing it out there in case anyone has any thoughts I may be able to pass along.

Thanks,

Len

Check the number on the ECU and the number on the CHT, make sure they match.

This is an excellent resource for D-Jet troubleshooting.

My 74 2.0L experiences the same issue. Part of this is simply known issues with the D-Jet injection on the motor. There is a spacer that you can get from 914ltd http://www.4wts.com/media/?a=pp&id=1383596889&fid=1351569425&t=l that helps with the warm-up issue. I put one of these spacers on my car and it is certainly much, much better. It used to want to die when pulling up to a stop sign during warm up but now it does not. I still have some idle surging between 600-1000RPM during warm-up but once warmed up it is rock solid 900-950 RPM.

Read the whole pbanders site above and make sure you have matching parts in the tables that he put together.
