914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Replacing the Nuts

Posted by: bandjoey May 7 2014, 02:35 PM

Just finished replacing the pushrod seals, and torqued down the retaining nuts to the rockers at the recommended Haynes 10 lbs and in a flash thought...how long do the nuts last? They're probably the original nuts. Thumbed through the Haynes and it's not mentioned. Are these nuts reusable? So, then what about the studs? With proper torque, should these be replaced as an ongoing item?

Mine have lasted 40 + years and will probably last another 40.

av-943.gif I don't know if this is a serious answer or not. That's why it's hilarious.
