Normally when you go to WCR there are about 80% 4 cylinders. So far by informal parking lot poll, we have 75% 6 cylinders! Smallest is a 2.7, a bunch of 3.2's, and SirAndy's 3.6. It's going to make for an interesting drive tomorrow!

This event is on the wrong coast. Why can't we have an event on the middle coast? South Padre anyone? I honestly can't think of anything better than 914's, BBQ, and maybe guns. Y'all left coasters can come and partake in some Freedom if you'd like

Very true! I have 3 I go to. None are usually to close but what the hell. Nothing like a good road trip. This year I'm actually hitting all 3. Already did Route 66 which ended up being a 3500 mile round trip. All with no problems but the stench of a dead animal for the second half . I am here at WCR in Lake Tahoe now. Just a one day 11hour trip down here. Next up will be Red Rocks in September:Qarl: . Some day I hope to get out east for one

I'll let you guys vote...
First we have Wes, he made his bid very early. On arrival in fact. A group of early arrivals were sitting in camp chairs on the roof around our parked 914's. Wes pulled up with his full sized Ford pick-up. We all looked over at him wondering who he was I guess and he looked back at us. A little too long it seems as he drove right into the wall on the outside of the ramp with his front bumper That's Wes on the left. Marty chooses great company!
Next, we have Steve who proudly accepted the award for longest distance traveled... Then, didn't make it home. Steve accepting his award.

How can that be? Canada doesn't make anything worth drinking!
That is a relative point. Growing up in Minnesota where you cannot buy alcohol after 10PM or on Sunday, we used to make the few hundred mile drive to Thunder Bay to get Labatt's or Molson on Sunday... It was the craziness of youth but it was worth the trip just for the memories!

This is exactly why I can never go.
In the case that no one stands out, the award automatically goes to Dave So, this years That Guy goes to Dave!!!

When I do get the award I expect it to come with a powerful headache and an awful thirst the next morning. So this year I will decline, with thanks.
And I don't think any of the really big breweries make anything "worth" drinking, regardless of where they are from.

Guys - I can just smack him in the back of the head with a hammer and then choke him if you want?
Saves you having to ship the award up.

Wasn't La Salle, WI closer? I seem to remember a beer run there from St. Paul and it was pretty close.
I swear I didn't plan it like this, but after I was finished writing it, I realized it was EXACTLY 914 words long.
Nice article Brad. Good to meet you & look forward to the next one. Enjoy & best of luck in your search for a 914

Great article Brad! Are you working? Want to grab breakfast?

Ha, thanks for the compliments, guys! I love 914s, but I don't have the garage space right now. I've currently got three cars and only a one-stall garage.
Some day, I'd really like a GT replica with a G50 and a 3.3 Turbo... (Yeah, I'm a dreamer).
@ConeDodger, you've got a PM.

... One of the more heavily modified cars, however, used a twin-plug 3.6 liter from a 993 in the back of his race-ready 914. Honestly, how that car is considered streetable is beyond my comprehension. ...
Easy, just be very careful with the loud pedal ...
