Why does the 1.7 put out more power than the 1.8? Why does the early 2.0 put out more power than the later 2.0?

The later 2.0 had smog equipment and a restrictive exhuast. Not sure about the 1.7, maybe it was configured better, or did the 1.8 come out after smog equipment added too.

I belive the 1.8 was to compensate for smog junk.

I can speak from experience when I say that I doubt my 1.8L has enough power to blow itself up.

On the bright side, mine has over 350K on the clock. . . driving.gif
