I'm looking for help in designing some Porsche related media- Web Page, newsletter, yadda, yadda, yadda.
The name needs to represent Porsche and jump out as easily recognized as Porsche to you and other Porschephiles.
However, it can't use the name Porsche or anything that PCNA or father Porsche in Germany and their lawyers wouldn't allow.
The name shouldn't exclude any models or be specific to any particular model. What we are looking for is something that ALL Porsche people can enjoy.
I have a free set of front Euro lenses and a 914Club poster (13x19) to the winner, if there is one...if not, I'll throw all the names of those who responded in a hat and draw a winner. BUT, you have to have your location listed in your profile to WIN.
Thanks in advance.

Hard to do this without focusing on a particular model. They all differ so much. Engines in the front, rear, AND in the middle. Affordable to astronomical. Oh well, someone will come up with something
Stuttgart (Review/Bi-Monthly/Almanac/Digest)?

Andy
Nice try.
The name Carrera would stick us in a 911 only hole.
Has to cover Porsches in general.
B
Andy's right about Carrera.
I thought about it.
It means "race" I think.
356 Carrera's were the bad-assest of the day. There was a Carrera 6 (not a 356) and then the 911 took over the name.
I think there was even a 924 based Carrera.
-sean
Here's one.
Ausgezeihtnet (I think it is the spelling).
German translation is "of note" or "excellent."
- Joe
haha, my translator comes back with:
"Ausgezeichnet" = "kick-ass adj. [Amer.][sl.]"
not bad, huh?
Andy
I think trying to type that as a URL would be a lesson in futility.
-Rusty
Nobody would EVER type Ausgezeichnet into Google.
Jen
RennSpeed is an existing company (not sure if he registered the domain though)
Carrera is trademarked by Porsche, so you'd still run into trouble with their lawyers
cheers,
Jeroen

It is where Porsche has created all of there supercars, like the ...917, 935 and yes even the new 10 cyl. Carrera GT.
OR ...as on my license plate for my Porsche "ZUFNHZN"
"Porschephile" contains the holy grail of words.
How do you spell lawsuit? P O R S C H E
EASY solution.
The spanish word for race is "La Carerra". So use that.
Be sure to use Babel to translate some of your site into spanish.
Come cut off my arm, you German shysters!

Nevermind. I misspelled the domain name.
"Lacarrera.com" is taken.
So is "lacarreraclub" and "carreraclub" are taken.
but..
Lacarrerafans.com and Lacarreramagazine.com are available.
what about

hey guys, don't get too caught up on the url for the webpage. That is only a small part of the overall plan.
Just finding a name that really works is A#1 most important thing at this point.
I own Need4Speed.tv and that's about as good a URL as one could ask for.
Hmmm....I know you're not as interested in web sites, but SirAndy's suggestion got me thinking....and you don't wanna go and get me thinking...

This will primarily be for the US market..so easy spelling is best. I like Zuffenhausen.. but its too long and covers a very broad range.

Garage in German is uhhh... garage!
It sounds very German to me!
Karl
How about..
Autosport Garage!
Never undersestimate the power of a cool sounding German word.
Remember Fahrvergenugen! That did wonders for VW!
Hum.. I like Autosport, but it doesnt say "Porsche" without saying...well.. "Porsche"

This starts getting closer and closer to thinking about Porsche when you hear the name...
Ahh posted at the same time.
How about Research+Development in German ??
B
It could also mean BMW/Mercedes/VW.. though.
Stuttgart makes you think Porsche imediately..or Zuffenhausen.
B
Garage works, it implies in America...either a shop or your garage...where your Porschey parks or in Germany the place you park your Porschey.
Either way, it works....don't be too literal.
I can say it, probably correctly even...but it aint pretty!
Thank you for "XXXXXXXX" Stuttgart Garage. I'm your host Brad Roberts.. see you next week.
It sounds ok. Kinda hard to make it flow.
I'm your host Brad Roberts, see you next week..in the Stuttgart Garage.
Hum.. doesnt really "feel" correct.
B
Initials would be SG..like SG1.
B
this is clutch mc...see you next week at the gart!
Porschvergnugen!
I would use the "redneck" pronunciation of Stuttgart.
"Stut Gart"
Ha ha.. I love that "Clutch MC" title.. makes me laugh every time I see it.
B
Automobile Atlantis
I am sorry..I thought I chose some gay names...but you beat me to it..lol
Okay BMW maybe... but I usally don't think about VWs or Mercedes (Yes I know Mercedes has some nice racecars) when I think of German Performance or racing cars.
VW = small efficient German cars (the Honda of Germany)
Mercedes = big German sedans and smokey turbodiesels
But I get your point...
I still like..
I'm your host Brad Roberts, see you next week on "It's Pronounced POR-SHA you idiot!" Good-Bye!
Good one Karl..
Think more like the the "Osbournes"..
"See you next week on F-ing Por-sha...idiots"

Right on Vegas! That's a friggin riot.
Vegas? Are those the signs at Brad's??
That's on the corner of the street where you turn in to SSI. Honest! thats how I found it.

"Motor in the middle" best describes what we are all about. I like it.
Ok, so Ausgezeichnet is out.
How about schnell (or is it shnell) I believe its meaning is quick, fast or hurry.
A whois lookup finds that it is not in use, but owned.
- Joe
.ps of course, quick doesn't really describe my 914 1.7, but that's ok
That reminds me of schnitzel.
