On my first 75, 914, as I recall there were rubber gizmos that come down from the corners of the engine bay to drain, or is the spot up higher, and around the corner??

If so, mine does not appear to have that hole in it?

You just need glasses is all.

Much higher up. Those holes are most visible in the engine bay.
