914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Mailman brought me a cow

Posted by: skline Jan 18 2005, 05:23 PM

And let me tell you, that must have been a big ass cow. Got the leather for my interior today, it smells awesome. Its huge. I am thinking this should be enough to do the whole interior in the car. The grain is very consistent and even. Should make for a nice interior. The smell is really strong when I opened the box. And it is so soft. I can hardly wait. Now I just need to find someone to do it for me. I dont have a machine that will sew it.

Scott - if you have any leather left over, I need a piece to fix a spot on the top of my dash. I am also thinking about wrapping some parts of the roll cage. LMK. $$$

This hide is 2 mm thick and weighs 3.4 oz. All hides are from Italy. This is taken from the ad.

Bring it to me Scott. How much was the cow?

Posted by: skline Jan 18 2005, 06:19 PM

The cow was $100.00 plus $10 shipping. I am happy with it which is really all that matters.

There is a guy on Ebay that sells them also. You can find him here and he is about the same price.

$110! I may have to start sourcing my leather there and bringing it to my shop. Their leather prices are steap. I will be checking on what the labor alone will cost for people that supply their own leather. I will hopefully have an answer this weekend.

Posted by: skline Jan 18 2005, 06:31 PM

Cool Mike, let me know. I will be checking with a guy I know that does upolstery also. I am not sure if he will want to do a car or not. He does sofa's and chairs and stuff.

Skline.
There is a place in Costa Mesa that does some of the finest upholstering on this planet. The owners name is Jesse Radillo,
Everyone from Leno to me uses his services. And he is very reasonable. Especially when you consider the quality.

I know a couple other guys in the BIG OC that can also handle that job.. Let me know if ya need a couple more recomendations..........

You may want to check in with Jesse Radillo before you pull the trigger on who is going to do the work for you....

Plus he is about ten blocks from you. !!! IPB Image

Tell him Clayton sent ya..........

I bought it to do the interior on the Chalon. There is nothing like the smell of leather when you get into a fast sports car. I am going to have the seats, door panels, and dash all done in leather.

I have great service and work with Roberto’s on Harbor in Costa Mesa. They did my back panel- I had a NOS white one and a roll of the factory brown vinyl) Just bring him the seats and panels. He’s across from Theodore Robbins Ford. Maybe not the cheapest but quality work.

Then there’s always across the boarder….

I got my cow today. IPB Image Well, really only half of the outside of a cow.
It is really nice leather. Super soft and a very even grain.
It is a little thicker than I expected, but that is even better for my planned use.
I'm gonna wrap the roll cage to match the seats and dash that are already in the car.
Before you ask - the price was less than $50 from eBay, including shipping.
