Here are the questions from the 914 section of the 2014 Parade tech quiz. Several of the questions appear to have been written by "real" 914 folks; see for instance Q 53 answer a.
There are a few answers that are debatable, according to your point of view as well.
The questions I got wrong were: 55, 67, 69. I actually got 67 right, but the official answer was wrong. (That question was successfully protested and thrown out.)

Pure luck crankshaft drive... What a novel idea that was!
where are answers posted ??
They actually managed to have some printing/collating issues so some folks got handed the answer sheets rather than the test sheets!
There were a few events where a bit more planning could have been better planned. At the welcome party, they had four bars set up for the crowd (over 1400 people), so the lines were rediciously long. However, it was still a great time, and a record setting number of cars that participated.
Now we have to wait for the next Rennfest Reunion to have another excuse to visit Monterey!

It's a lot easier here than sitting in a room with fifty or so other people, at oh-ghod-hundred in the AM, with no breakfast and NO COFFEE! Not to mention that the tests got pretty screwed up...

I only missed #69 cause I had no idea. Never worked on a six.
I think we should start a thread and generate our own questions/answers for the next parade.

So, I didn't see an overall winner. Were the tests all model specific?
E. All of the above.
Good job Dave
I guess I don't understand how the scoring goes, but you had 107 points and Manny Alban had 103. Doesn't that make you the winner?
Yup, I'm a long time 914 owner (73 2.0) and decided not to enter the 914 class because I figured Mr. Darling (who I believe won overall before) would enter it. Plus, last time I took the quiz on the left coast, I got creamed by a few smart 914 guys. Figured I had a better chance with the 964/993 class (I own a 90 911C2 also).
As for how the scoring goes, I have no idea. I think I was one of the first five people to finish....I was then out the door to have some coffee
Oops. Yeah, that's 137 for my overall total.
"Math is hard!"
In my defense, I was blond for most of my life....

Dave,
Question about #61, 1970 914 windshield wiper switch location. I had a '70 in 1975 and distinctly remember hitting the wiper switch with my knuckles while doing spirited driving. Previous owner had installed a Racemark steering wheel and I believe it was a little too close. The wiper switch was on the steering column. Did I have a late model '70 ? Maybe the PO had changed out the steering column?
Just curious,
Tom
The "brown" hoses in question 70 were actually red, and very obviously so. Another error that got by the folks who wrote the test.
The Cap'n
IIRC, there were brown hoses and there were red hoses. But they didn't go to the same places.
Alan Caldwell wrote up a diagram for the 2.0 liter cars in an early-90s Panorama.
--DD
IIRC, and it's been a while, they arrived at the dealership with red, green, and black (well, grey) hoses. Oh, and blue for the brake fluid hoses.
