914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Scat vs Stock/OEM Crankshaft

Posted by: gla914#27 Jun 26 2014, 02:00 PM

Am rebuilding my 2.0 race engine after a major failure
The existing crank is a Scat......stock stroke......which cannot be reused due to un-repairable damage to the flywheel end
Am wondering if I should go again with the Scat with stock stroke or use one of my spare OEM stock crankshaft???????

Scat is a forged.....light weight.....crankshaft

Scat is forged in china, they hit it with a hammer a couple of times and call it forged.
OE cranks are hammered many times right to the rough shape, they are a way higher quality forging.
