just got a new flasher relay for my 73,but i dont know which wires to transfer over.the numbers marked on new relay are 49a, 49 ,31 and c adjacent to 4 plugs,old relay has 56, a letter s and 2 other markings .how do i transfer wires correctly to new one.obviously certain color goes to specific plug --help

i figured it out,i was looking at headlight relay,flasher was under dash

While you are on the subject, is the flasher relay next to the fuse block under the dash? I bought a new relay for my '73 but can't locate a matching relay to change it with. There is a VW relay installed next to the fuse block under the dash but its a 5 pin and doesn't match the one Pelican sent me.
