914World.com _ 914World Garage _ L-jet, valve adjustment, hot weather

Posted by: messix Jul 16 2014, 11:58 PM

so the last time a adjusted the valves I adjusted to the tight side of .006 because I don't really like to hear the clackity clack valve noise for the 95% of the time I don't the engine up to a hot summer day run temp.

well the weather has been pretty hot and the last 50 mile run in 95 degree day it ran poorly when at idle.

so I readjusted the valves tonight to a looser .006-7.

now here is how finicky L-jet is.... I had to readjust the air bypass at the throttle plate and readjust the meter bypass too.

so as so many of these guys state "CHECK YOUR VALVE LASH ADJUSTMENT" as step #1 in drivability and idle problems.
