September is going to be a busy month for Huey....Just 2 weeks before Okteenerfest, one week before a Carolinas Region Autocross, and two weeks after Peachstate Region's Rennfest, we will once again be running in the SCCA Chasing the Dragon Hill Climb - September 13-14.
Details at http://www.dragonhillclimb.com
If you enjoy autocross or time trials, or always just wanted to run up a hill as fast as you can without fear of police, traffic or your significant other yelling at you to slow down, THIS is the event for you!! Contact Ted Theodore (info on the website) and he can figure out how to get you classed, registered and accepted into the event. I don't know all the rules and regs about what your car has to have....Huey is pretty well set as a full race car (street legal mind you) because of it's Targa Newfoundland compliance, but you have time to figure it all out...
I have to say, these hill climbs are definitly one of the highlights of our year. Organizer Ted is one of the nicest and most enthusiastic guys we've ever met. Always looking for ways to make things fun and as easy as possible for the competitors, the whole event is a blast.
I've posted a few videos on our youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Naroescape
and will keep things up to date on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/naroescapemotorsports
If you can't drive it, come out and support the ONLY 914 that runs it!!
Quick video for those that didn't see it from last year:

Hillclimb is this weekend.
Huey is ready to go, he did great over Labor day weekend at Rennfest. Put on the lift yesterday, all good. Changed the muffler to a set of Glasspak mufflers I have...sounds awesome!!
Wish us luck!!
I am told these are the trophies this time!!
Good luck Bob!
Looks like a blast.
thanks
If you go to the website http://www.dragonhillclimb.com and scroll down to the group picture with Heiki and Vicki holding thier winning swords (yes, fastest on the mountain Men and Women get a REAL SWORD!!) posted Mar 28, the lady right in the middle with the red/white/black Sheep PJ's on is my wife Nadine! I was not in that picture..I was moving a truck...
We are back from the Hillclimb!
Rained most of Saturday, never got a dry run, just a half decent 'damp' run.
Saturday morning I got 1 dry run, Nadine got none all weekend - she and I obviously ran in different groups. I ended up first in GT2 class over 4 other drivers (one being Nadine).
My Winnings!
Here's video of my run. See how rough it is??

Congratulations on the win, Bob.
Fantastic!…great vid. Well done Bob!
Once in third, stayed in third?
Yeah, last time I went up to 4th, but we upped the rev limited a bit, and I was still a little cautious as it was a bit slick...
We got a write up on the PCA.org website!!
https://www.pca.org/news/2014-09-16/three-pca-members-take-class-wins-seventh-chasing-dragon-hill-climb
If you are a PCA member, please login, go to the bottom of the article and click on the 5 starts. the higher the rating, the higher it stays on the News list...I think?
Chasing the Dragon has only one(1)Porsche 914?
What gives,I'm sure there are many more P-Types involved in the hillclimb.
Maybe 914World could be offering discount coupons to members.
Not sure how that would work.

944
This particular event, there were 3 Porsches: us in Huey, Cory in his 997 RSR, and Rock Webb in his 1972 911T.
the 944 you note in the video above is Chris Porter in "White Trash",...944 with Chevy V8 engine!
Herman Porter ran one event last year in his 914 2.0
I've seen one or two 944's there too in the past year or so...
Yeah,I figured,I could hear the rumble above the wind noise.
The torque got him loose, straightened it out ok,didn't bend anything.
relaxed after that.
one run or two?
actually, he did kiss the guardrail.
Typically get 8+ runs in a weekend. This last one was less due to rain, people hitting guardrails and needing to be towed down, etc.
A big congrats. I have to say you've always talk and walked the talk on running your -6. Quick question, are you running your new 3.2 with the 915 box?

Thanks. Cars are made to be driven.
It's the newly build 3.2, but just a stock 901 box
guardrail?
conveniently placed.
beats the hell out of a trip down the embankment ,off a cliff!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11rMTP-dGrQ
during a talk show, what was funny was the other driver down the same slope,
off into the trees, deeper into the woods, asking if he was ok.
it's what makes the spectacle, the daring do.
