This is the same posting in the "Events" Section of 914 World. The Admins. advised posting in the "World" section with the hope that we can drum up more 914 participants. Perhaps the Admins can highlight in a color?
The Central Jersey VW Society is having its 10th annual "All Air Cooled Gathering" in Flanders NJ on Sunday September 21, 2014. As in the the past I'm inviting all 914 owners, along with any model air cooled Porsche to show their pride and joy. Last year we had over 300 air cooled cars (mostly VW's with the exception of a total of 19, 914's, 911's and 356's). The venue is really unique in that its held at a private German Social Club with a beautiful full grass soccer field (actually several fields) along with German food and beer on tap in the 30's style clubhouse. This is a charity event where a portion of the proceeds will help Operation Jersey Cares, an organization that provides support and care for current and past NJ Combat Veterans. There will also be some parts vendors (mostly VW) and prizes being raffled to raise money along with a DJ for music entertainment. Also this year "Dyno Don" from California will MC the event. For those that don't know, he is California's popular VW personality. This is truly a family event with activities and contests for kids and adults alike.
Last year's Air Cooled Porsche turnout was a record 19 cars. The word is getting out in the Porsche Club that this is a fun event for both car owners ad their families. Judging is very low key with an emphasis on allowing every car on the field no matter what level of preparation. So, don't worry if your undercarrage is dirty (sorry CW's). We want this event to be fun for the whole family and consider it perfect for those who are looking for a nice day out with German beer and food and to help out with a good cause.

Of course its the third weekend in September....
EVERYTHING is the third weekend in September...
I really wanted to go to this, but I have a promise out to my WWII Armored Car guys to hang with them on the 20th in Gettysburg.
Least I can do is add some color to the thread title for you.
I will get to this event one day.
Zach
I had a discussion with the President of the Central Jersey VW Society. He said if we get a minimum of 6 Porsche 914's we will split the class and go 3 deep with the awards. Can I get some people to confirm they are coming?
Dave
I plan to be there
man, this event is literally 10 minutes from me, but ill be away at a wedding that weekend..too bad
Bump
This past weekend I was invited to the Southern Connecticut 356 picnic. I promoted this & handed out fliers to each couple. I think at least two more Porsches will be attending.
If you are on the fence about coming then I suggest you fall on the side of going. You won't be disappointed.
Here is a video from 2012. 350 cars that year, all air cooled.

This year is the 10th anniversary so it should be epic!
For those travelling a long distance my place is 15 minutes from the show with a pretty well equipped shop if needed.
I'm going...
Last years first place Porsche was a members car. Congrats Len.

It's crunch time, September 21st is just around the corner. The President of the Central Jersey VW Society said if we get six 914's committed to attend he will split the class and go 3 deep with trophies. It's time to step up to plate and chime in if you plan to attend. He needs time to have the awards made.
Dave
Planning to drive up from the Wildwood show to attend. Although I wasn't going to enter the show (too much damn cleaning!), I will if needed to expand the category.
This is a great show at a terrific venue. Good people, low prices, awesome cars and trucks, and multiple vendors.
I'm guessing Ray M. will be attending. Might want to pm him to confirm.
You'll have at least 6, Dave.
Here is the teeners from last year. Five total. Can someone put names to these?
Green - Jim Foster, not a member afaik
Red - Len, aka Big Len
silver - Ray, aka rmital (I think)
blue -
yellow -

Where's all the PA boys that attended Hershey?
Easy drive, right off Rt. 80
one PA boy is in.....with his 914
Would love to go, but will be down at
New Jersey Motorsports park.
Will try for next year. Good luck guys.
Dave, think I enlisted another 914 (maybe 2) to come and a Bug. You should have enough for a separate category.
Not your average car show Andrew.....the family will enjoy all the activities and everything is reasonably priced.
I have not been there this year but last year I went through the camping area which by passed the speed bump. Before you get to the speed bump bare left through the grass. If my car made it anyone's can. I'm am 2.5" to 2.75" clearance.
I am going to try to check it out this Sunday night with at the club preview.
going away again... returning on the 22nd
Yesterday we had our meeting at the show site to finalize the plans for this coming weekend. The show field, which is 3 grass soccer fields is in perfect shape. And all the rest of the facility is ready to go. Just some wood to split for the campers and we're done.
I checked the long range weather forecast and it's looking very good.
We are less than a week away!
Hope to see a record 914 turnout. Other air cooled Porsches are also welcome.
Dave
bad news here.......my son play goalie for Penn State berks ice hockey team and he has his season opener on Sunday at 1:30pm...no way I can make both.
I might be a little late, 12ish. Save me a spot Mic.
A word about the speed bumps:
The subject came up in our preliminary meeting this past Sunday. We are allowing and instructing lowered cars to drive around on the grass where it's possible.
Weather forecast for Sunday - Sunny, high 78 degrees, 10% chance of rain.
Dave
There have been some question as to what day the actual car show is. Here is quick schedule of events:
Saturday Sept 20
- Camping set up
- Party at clubhouse in the evening with band, food, and bar. No cover for band. Food and drinks you are on your own.
Sunday Sept 21
- Car show and awards ceremony.
See Web page for complete details:

Dave - Are they still going to serve breakfast on Sunday morning?
I'll try to pop down on Sunday. I also have 6 quarts for Brad Penn 20W50 I'd like to get rid of. $20.00 and it's yours. I can bring it down, or you can pick it up at the house.
I'll take that deal.....see ya there.
Dibs on the oil if Len stays down at wildwood
No chance Mital. I got sand in every orifice from the freakin wind, we're coming.
Len, I'll be there around 1130-1200 with my friend in his Beck Spyder, weather permitting.
Awesome day today. Record # of cars (380), record spectator attendance plus 250 people camping & partying on Saturday night. Had seven 914s show up to make the class break out from all the other Porsches. Congrats to Big Len for another 1st place. Pics to come soon.

Tod- Got the oil, sorry I missed ya. Thanks so much.
If you didn't make it you missed an awesome day. Thanks to everyone who showed up so the 914s could have their own class this year. Don't know how I missed taking a pic of Jim Fosters green 914-6, sorry. [attachmentid=467

...it was an excellent day. And how I know it was is because my wife really enjoyed herself!
hanging out with Joe, Len, Linda and all the other strange but wonderful air-cooled folks made it worth the trip! We even won a nice wine basket...so that helped her happiness too....
I would like to thank all those 914 owners for turning out to the biggest and best All Air Cooled Gathering, marking the 10th anniversary of the event.
The last time I checked with the registration booth we had 345 cars registered. Add the Central Jersey VW Society cars, which can't be judged, and we were pushing 400 Air Cooled Cars total. A new record! Also, the swap meet and the camping area was at full capacity.
Congratulation Len on your beautiful red 914 for garnering 1st place.
I intend to post the official car attendance total along with all the results as soon as they become available.
Dave
Glad to see it went to good use Len. Love the 5 lugs on your car. Sets it off nicely. Enjoyable show, as always.
Looks like this show had some awesome weather + great turnout!
