McMark emailed me pix today (as promised) just 2 days after dropping the car off with appreciable progress evident . Just wanted to share with all of you a so far favorable 914 repair experience. Here are some progress pix:

Headlight bucket is back in and I'm taking a 5-er from ripping the replacement fender from the superfluous garbage. Another 30 minutes and I'll be starting the actual fender graft. Zoom!
Patrick, up to the minute pictures have been uploaded. Check em out!
Me likes!!!
I know that taking and posting pix is time consuming and I want to acknowledge what a great marketing tool it is. I have had another major project in the works that was supposed to be documented as well but shot happens you know. Anyways I appreciate it!

Looks good Mark and Pat! Can you show the rear of the fender? I'm going to remove a fender soon. Your donor looks like it has some of the inner wheel well metal. Was this a rough cut before trimming? I'm thinking I just need to drill out the spot welds.
I'll take a picture of my parts car later today.
I like a 1/4" drill bit for spot welds.
This was a rough cut. I heading out now to do the final fitting and welding.
You got skills my man.
I bought spot weld cutter the other day. What a collosal waste of money. That damn thing wouldn't even cut the paint on spot welds.
what about paint?
maybe we can get a deal on getting 2 fenders painted zambezi green
Mike,
Mark is going to ask Brandon for paint quote. Our car does not have perfect paint so Concourse matching not required.

What kind did you get? I've read the Carbide type is stronger than Hardened steel... |

The one I bought worked great. |
Try a search for spot weld cutter. I found this one that has a pic of the one I bought. In retrospect t's a little large, but a smaller size is available.

These are what I use. They do a bang up job and aren't nearly as expensive.

What diameter wire you using? 0.6?
Mostly gas. I only use the MIG for a few small sections. I believe it's 0.23" wire with Bi-Mix gas.
Mark, great job aligning the new fender to the cut-off section.
How long did it take you to trim/measure repeat?
Final welding done

And off to Brandon for paint!

Thanks Mark!
Probably took me about an hour to go from the first rough cut to the final cuts. I try to go slow and take my time.
We'll have more pictures after it gets painted.
Thanks Patrick!
