914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Re-Upholstery coverings for two front seats.

sad.gif So I have the seats. I have the replacement material. I ask a local upholstery shop for a price to reupholster the two seats.
He says, $900.00 for labor... just labor. WTF.gif

Is the material stitched to shape, like a kit, or are you starting with a bolt?

I'm here in Orange County and can recommend an excellent shop. Seats were $600.00 including material.

My was the same as Joe. $600 done by James.

Posted by: BuddyV Sep 10 2014, 04:16 PM

..... ummm..... sounds like the trades are hearing that 914 prices are going up......

Posted by: iamchappy Sep 10 2014, 05:04 PM

I had my seats door panels and pockets backpad and center pad done in leather for $700.00 about five years ago

Posted by: rhodyguy Sep 10 2014, 06:01 PM

at $275 a pair it would be cheaper to pay the return shipping to have a set done. the leftover $575 buys a lot of koni.

Who or where is the SoCal shop that did those seats, Joe????

They look really nice. The seat section is a bit pronounced, but I like that look.

Posted by: rhodyguy Sep 10 2014, 06:14 PM

nice for the lower back. weak spot in 40yo seats. wish i still had some cores.

There are several reasonable upholstere in Costa Mesa; i'v used Univeral on 17th ( between Placentia and Pomona) for both the 914 and Boxster.

Dude, I live in Rancho Cucamonga and had my seats done at a shop in Fontana. Bolsters were done in a vinyl that feels like leather and the centers were done in suede, very nice results. Both seats were done for $490. Se habla Espanol and I paid cash! $900 bones, run, don't walk!

For those who live in the Southern New England - Tri-State area: I used Dragone Classic Cars.... Gilsen does the work, and he is good.

About $300 for both seat bolster sets... $900 way too high...

What might the contact information of this shop be?

Was the cloth bottom your choice? Did they use any new foam or are the insides all original?

thanks for sharing.

Joe,

I also love the look of that interior. Would love to have the name of the shop that did that for you.

Give away, don't throw away. Keep the 914 parts in circulation.

Speaking of extra seats, I have a pair of them if anyone is interested. No brackets and the seats are missing some material but good cores.

I'm sure they would, PM me and i'll give you the contact info. They've been around a while and do a lot of hotrod work, just a simple shop behind Mr. Castillo's house. Not required but a big help if you can speak Spanish.
