914World.com _ 914World Garage _ OT: 917K for sale at Canepa

This thing is such a piece of art, just beautiful. To know that it ruled the competition is a nice addition. I appreciate all of the pictures in their for sale ad. Cars like this and the Ferrari P4, GT40 etc. make me wish I could suddenly come into ridiculous money.

Before I buy it I am going to get a carfax to make sure it was never involved in and accident.

Great pics if it weren't for those annoyingly cute kids.

Spoken like a true "soccer-mom"
I still see the drool I left on it back at WCR'13. . . Them boy's must be slippin'. . . Buyer beware!!

I assume this is a real 917 and not a replica? What a glorious piece of engineering, and history! I wasn't aware that they had to carry a spare tire, and those tires are a lot of rubber on the ground! There must be some interesting shift linkage hidden under there.

#56 picture has one of Zach's wood shift knobs! Way to go Zach.

Here is what it looked like when they bought it off eBay....

I never realized just how small they actually were. Seeing it in relation to the kids really put it in perspective.

If I could find a good one of those monsters, I would drive it just cause it's so wrong.

I saw a couple driving a replica kit, and let me tell you, the wife wasn't looking too happy!

In case it's not enough, here he is driving his own 917K (either that or he swapped numbers before listing the #2 car):

and here he is test-driving a customer's on public roads:

It is NUTS how fast he swallows up the 914 at around 5:50!!! I could watch that all day long...

I guess I need to buy a lottery ticket on the way to Octeenerfest and keep my fingers crossed. Megamillions is up to 93 million / 54 million cash option. I hope Bruce is willing to negotiate.

I completely agree... noticed that instantly, especially since that other recent thread of members kids in 914's made the teeners look big.

Just doesn't seem right for a 917 having to stop for a red light....just sayin'.

I get nervous road testing my customers' race 914s so I imagine that Bruce would be more than a little anxious driving the 917/10 among suvs and pickup trucks.

I remember reading about the 917s being driven over the road from the port of entry to Road Atlanta, back in the day.

Doesn't the 917 share the same wheelbase as a 914? Also, mid engined?
