I'm interested also. But, it has gotten so popular in such a short time that I figure it will be hard to get into by the time I'm ready.

How do you guys make a link one little word like "here"? IPB Image

(a href=URL)text you want to print(/a)

you need to replace the ()'s with <>'s

It would be quite the drive from Cali...it's around 1500 miles east of Toronto, so that's what...3000-3500 miles from Cali?

$4500Can entry fee, hotels, food, ferry ride over, gas...even from here it looks like $10k+ vacation.

But it would be fun IPB Image

Kristy and I were signed up for the second year of the Targa Newfoundland. Unfortnately the 914 ended up spending over a year at Patrick Motorsport beyond the time originally estimated to get the car ready. We ended up missing year 2 and year 3 of Targa Newfoundland.

The organisers are great guys by the way and very supportive of Porsche and were dying to have a 914 in the event. Porsche were the honored marque the second year and I believe that no 914s were entered other than ours and we had to drop out as the car was still in bits.

If you can get the car there and take the time off it would be a blast. Shame they rasied the entry fee this year but what can you do? I grew up reading tall tales about british rally drivers fighting against the odds to make their stage times and one of these days I will do it.

Also, unless they changed the rules you can have your own sponors so long as you place the Targa Newfoundland rally & sponsor decals in the designated places first and then add your sponsor's logos in the remaining areas. My car is a rolling advertisement for Raby's Aircooled Technology, Patrick Motorsports, Stuttgart Southwest, Pelican Parts, Camp 914, 9R Parts, Auto Atlanta, Amity 914, and of course eBay. C'mon, you know you want to sponsor me IPB Image

INTERESTED !!

Since being from Atlantic Canada and driven many days in Newfoundland
I would consider anyone looking for a former racer car driver to be a backup
or spare driver for this event !

What can I add to above; the Hospitality of "NFLD" is like none anywhere
else in Canada. Take for instance the Tragic events of 911 when hundreds
of airplanes coming into Canada and USA were order to ground asap. When
in Gander, NFLD they accepted about one hundred foreign flights into their
airport and provided hotel, homes, schools, university dorms, etc for
all those with no place to go and in a city of only # 12,000; The hospitality
of these kind and friendly people goes beyond explanation.

The sights and sound are spectacular; it is an unknown paradise !
check out this link for some good old adventure !

NOW think about being able to have a "LEGAL" street race across a province
that's as BIG as the state of Texas ! (OK it's nit quite that big, but in Canada
is it Big) Actually it's likely similar in size to many US states, it takes about ten
hours to drive across this scenic country. Not mention the cool six-hour ferry
ride, fishing villages, back roads, and lots of rock ! So make sure you stay
between the ditches on that black stuff. They love their sports including race
cars and will drink to just about anything, and toast up their Nfld. glass.

So any takers on my offer ? I could even help arrange transportation, hotels,
food and a good time. May even be able to arrange for a mechanic to volunteer
for a trip to the Rock (Nfld. that is !). Your fellow teener

Allan

PS. Have many friends from Nfld. And they are true friends who would go well
Beyond the call of duty to assist and help out anytime, anywhere at the
Drop of a hat !
