914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Door Panel Reconstruction

Posted by: RobW Sep 28 2014, 07:31 PM

The passenger arm rest has an upper bolt in the door, a lower bolt in the door, and then two more lower bolts lined up.

It looks like the last two bolts are fixed in the door panel. Does anyone know how these are fixed to the door panels? Any pictures?

Thanks, R

On my '75, the two lower right bolts went directly into the metal of the door. But I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't correct. Taking off the panel to look is easy though. Just remove all the armrest bolts. The interior door handle and window crank (1 screw for each), carefully pop the clips on the outer edge of the panel and then slide the whole panel upwards to remove.
Armed with replacement vynil and a staple gun, they are fairly easy to redo.

There are a couple of nuts attached to the backside of the door panel.

I thought it was a special nut with a clip on it? Like some kind of a speed nut.

It's a nut that slides into a clip that is held on to the door using pressure, male part of the clip slips into a slot on both sides of the clip. That's on a late model

Anyone selling these 2 nuts and clips? I'm in need.

PM sent to Rob. I think I have a junk door panel with the clips in them. Unless you need to whole panel due to damage. I may have a usable core.

If those are the same square nuts with a C-shaped clamp over them that go into the door webs, I should have a whole baggie of them. I *think* I can find it... You can drop by or I can meet you somewhere and give you a handful.

I'll PM after I find them.
