914World.com _ 914World Garage _ My layers of paint

I'm curious if these layers are individual paint layers or part of the priming/painting process for just one color? Ignore the blacks splotches on top of the red.

Looks like there is dark gray, light gray, tan, white, green, then red.

I count 8 or 10 layers One or two could be a sealer. Had a MG Midget with thirteen layers on it. getting it smooth and clean to paint was no fun wish I had it now got totaled. Gordon

And the grays probably primer. What's the original color on the door post plate??

Interesting. Not sure about other parts - this was my front trunk lid. The rear trunk lid is only red with white underneath. Doing a test wrap of these two parts this weekend. Then the rest of the car later this winter after some body repair is done.
