914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Tall guy roll cage

Posted by: r_towle Oct 25 2014, 07:17 PM

sir Andy ( please post a pic again, sigh) or others...

Please post a picture of a roll cage that allows a tall person to push the seat all the way back.

I would like a single thread to show Foley, who i am certain has many ideas of his own, cause he is not short.

I will have foley do this for us, so I am just looking for some details on the horizontal bar for the harness, and how the seat fits at the end of the project.

Go look at my ex-ITA race car in his storage shed across the parking lot...that's a cage he built many moons ago and the seat should go all the way back. Have him remove the seat back brace (I'm replacing the seat anyway), move the seat around, see how you fit.

You could have asked me first. biggrin.gif
A harness bar like Andy showed has been standard in my 914 cages since 1994.

Just wanted to see ideas.....I know you will make me fit somehow, but I can't even deal with the seat up one notch.

It's my lower body and long legs that are the issue....

If you could stop by this coming week I'd have you try sitting in a customer's track car that's ready to go home very soon.
He's taller than you are.

That's a fantastic idea. I might just need to cut my car up and copy this

I wonder if lowering the floor like that would have any significant effect on downforce at speed? I'd hate to accidentally due something that could make the car uneasy at 120 mph +.... ? Thoughts?

Headroom for tall guys....
Once the helmet is on, it's darn close to the roof.
