the large (upper) retaining pin does not fit through the hole in the pad.
wrong pad or should i just make that hole larger?

If the pads fit otherwise (especially the thickness), drill the hole. I've done it for years.

What that guy said.
ok thx.
yes fit perfect otherwise. drilling now...
I drilled mine also sir!
I'm not sure that anyone makes pads with the asymmetric holes any more.

Also note that PMB is making the 914-6 rear calipers in aluminum, which
has all holes for pins the 'small' type. Then pads work without modifications.
I had the reverse problem, had some new pads that I had drilled and went to
install in the fancy new calipers and doh!
Thanks all.

These were refinished by PMB, but are original 914-6 calipers.

Out of curiosity... what does this # signify? My 6 calipers have a 1 on the left and a 3 on the right?

Hmmm... I have no idea.

Yup, just haven't had it down on the ground yet to torque that nut.

These pads do have an arrow on them noting wheel spin direction. Hopefully they work when backing up too.
