914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Engine bearings

I have a GC 2.0 engine which needs a rebuild. I have been looking at engine bearings my questions are;

Are Type 4 and Porsche 914 main engine bearings interchangeable?
Does anyone have experience with the Silverline steel backed bearing?
There seems to be a big price difference between the different manufacturers I guess this must be associated with quality?

Advice much appreciated, thanks

Type IV store will set you up. I wouldn't use any off brand stuff.

Yes type lV & 914 are the same......... Silverlines are probably not much worse than the current supply of other brand name bearings for type 4, They are made by Mahle from what I understand and since they are lower priced you could buy several sets and with a little mix/matching maybe come up with one usable set for your build. Out of round and incorrect crush are the main problems with the current stock of most major brands.
