Which car made the cover? You will have to wait and see.

The finished calendars arrived today. They look great. We will begin shipping them out tomorrow. If you didn't order one, or want a couple more, I ordered a few dozen extras. When they are gone they are gone. PM me if you want one or more.

___

The calendar is officially done. It looks great. Thank you for submitting wonderful pictures. I loved looking at all of your works of art, and it has inspired me to start a new project that I will announce soon.

The calendar will go to press tomorrow. As far as I can tell, everyone who submitted a photo made it into the calendar in some way. They will ship out in about a week and a half. Watch for your car.

If you didn't order a calendar, but want one or more, PM me. I am printing about 50 extras. Same price - $9.99 plus shipping.

SUBMIT PHOTOS AND EVENTS FOR THE CALENDAR - http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=245292

ORIGINAL POST:
We are in the process of producing a 914 calendar for 2015. The calendar will feature cars, both finished and under construction, from around the country. We will run a contest over the next few weeks to submit pictures of your cars in all stages of completion. The calendar will include key 914 and Porsche event dates, such as the CPA-PCA Swap Meet, Octeenerfest, etc., 914 tips, and will also include some vendors. We'll also include a section on each month for you to set your 914 goals.

This is not a money maker. We just thought a 914 calendar would be cool, and wanted to see if others wanted one. If we get at least 100 commitments we can get the cost down to $9.99, plus shipping. It would be delivered by the end of the year. We need at least 100 to do the calendar.

Please let me know if you are in for one or more calendars by posting here.

Note to vendors - It might also be a good giveaway if you are a vendor or have a shop. Just get with me if you are interested in that, and I am sure we can get you some bulk.

I'm in for 1 @ $10. But not just car pics. Do world event pics. West Coast, Teenerfest, etc.

Ya, we are working on event pics too. But, so far the interest in a calendar seems very low. I thought it would be neat.

Nothing cheesy.

How about just '914'

Personally, I hate the "teener" nickname. It doesn't do the car (or it's appeal) justice. Sounds degrading and lack of respect for the car. But that's just me.

Something simple and to the point and nothing too cheesy. Or if you want something more than to the point, since it's modern times for the 914, how about "A Day in the Life of the 914"

I think we are at 96 calendars. Who can push us over?

We have been amazed at the great photos that have been submitted so far. We are working on a way to let everyone vote on them. So get your car out of the garage this weekend, clean it up, and start taking pictures. Also, don't hesitate to submit pictures of rust buckets and cars under construction. We want to see them all.

We go to press with the calendar tomorrow. If anyone didn't order one or more, or hasn't sent payment, please do. I am trying to figure out how many extra copies to print, and would prefer to not order many extras. I don't want to have 50 extra copies of the calendar sitting around (they make nice place mats at the table, but, I only need so many for that :-) So, I am not ordering many over what have been spoken for.

Posted by: stevegm Dec 7 2014, 05:11 PM

The calendar is officially done. It looks great. Thank you for submitting wonderful pictures. I loved looking at all of your works of art, and it has inspired me to start a new project that I will announce soon.

The calendar will go to press tomorrow. As far as I can tell, everyone who submitted a photo made it into the calendar in some way. They will ship out in about a week and a half. Watch for your car.

If you didn't order a calendar, but want one or more, PM me. I am printing about 50 extras. Same price - $9.99 plus shipping.

Received my calendar today. Looks great, although the postman put a half fold in it. mad.gif

If it's bad let me know. I'll send you another one for free. We have to have those 914s representing in good shape.

Not too bad. I'm sorry I was venting about my mail carrier. My carrier loves to fold my Excellence and Panorama magazines around my other mail with a rubber band and the calendar fell to the same abuse.

The calendar is great! After seeing the calendar, I will likely send a payment for a second calendar for my office if you have enough.

Two more are on the way. We put cardboard between them to try to avoid them getting bent this time.

Me too! dry.gif Ticks me off to no end & since I have multiple carriers the only thing I can think of is to get a bigger box that will not require folding. Got lucky w/ my calendar since it was the only item I got in the mail yesterday, so as soon as I pulled it out the fold went away smile.gif

Hi Steve,

If you have any extras around I'll take one - just PM me with the PayPal particulars.

Unfortunately I've been buried work-wise most of this year & missed the original postig, & only saw this today while looking for another topic in the Garage.

If not - you did an excellent job on this judging by the artwork here! first.gif

My pleasure. I am glad you like it. It's all in the photos. 914world members sent in great pictures of their cars. Next year I would like to make a few improvements:

1. More 75 & 76 cars. This year we only had a few photos of the late cars submitted, and even most to those had backdated bumpers. I think we can represent the 75 & 76s better in next year's calendar.

2. We will have the calendar out earlier next year. The idea came up very late this year and so it didn't get going in time to be out before Christmas. Next year it will.

3. I would like to add a short write-up about each car that is featured. Maybe just a paragraph or two. But, info about the owner, engine, history, etc.

Start taking your photos now. Great photos make for a great calendar. And the competition to be featured was tough this year. The poll got it right though. I love the cars you all chose.

Oh and, I still have 20 or so extra calendars. Maybe 25. My wife won't let me use them as place mats on all the tables (only in the dining room). So, I need to sell them. :-) When they are gone, they are gone, though. We aren't printing more this year. If you want one PM me.

Received the calendars today and the cardboard trick worked. The postman still wrapped a rubber band around the calendar package and attached the regular mail but the calendars did not bend. smile.gif

Thanks Steve!

I will check these and PM you. They have all been shipped except for a few that we didn't have addresses for and we haven't been able to reach. Apparently, when money is sent via PayPal as friends and family it doesn't include an address. So there were some that we had to contact to get their address. But 99% of those have been sent now.

Only problem is, I don't see any jack stands in any of the photos. I didn't know the 914 could survive in the wild without them.

Ya, maybe a jack stand company would be a good sponsor for the calendar.
