UPDATE:
We have compiled all of the photos submitted for the Calendar Photo Contest. Thank you for sending in such great photos. Here is what we would like to do in terms of a poll. Hopefully later today we will set up a poll that will allow everyone to vote on which photos are featured in the 12 months, by categories, as follows:
'70 - '72 car
'73 - '74 car
'75 - '76 car
Race car
Does anyone have a suggestion of another category?
The photos that get the most votes will be featured in the 12 months. This will guarantee a nice mix of cars featured in the calendar. Only photos that are of a high enough resolution to be printed will be included in the voting (However, after verifying, most are high enough quality). Only one photo of each car will be put into the voting (so that we don't end up with the same car on multiple months). All cars, even if they are not featured in a given month, will be included in the calendar in some way.
If you can think of a detail I missed, please let me know.
___
We reached goal for sales of calendars, and have received a ton of awesome pictures for the calendar. Thank you.
We are getting ready to close our print order for the calendar. If you haven't ordered yours yet, please post here whether you want one or two - http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=245199 We are not expecting to have many extras. So, if you want one or more, please let us know.
Also, please submit your photos and events for the calendar before the deadline of Sunday, November 23, 2014. You can post them in this thread to submit them, or email them to me - stevegm@mac.com
IF YOU SUBMITTED PHOTOS - Please email the highest resolution version of the photo(s) you have to me at - stevegm@mac.com
Please include all photos that you submitted. We need to check each one to determine if it is suitable for printing before we submit the contest to a 914world vote on Monday. Please even include the bad photos - cars in all stages of . . . . rust. I have an idea.
ORIGINAL POST:
We are assembling a Porsche 914 calendar for 2015, which will go to press in early December. We are doing a limited print run. If you haven't reserved a copy or two you can do so here - http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=245199
CALL FOR EVENTS:
Please let us know about any 914-related, or relevant Porsche, events in 2015 that you are aware of. We would like to consider including them in the calendar. They can be 914-only events, or relevant Porsche events. Please post the events here, or send them to me via PM. Note that only events with a definitive date can be included.
Please include the website (if applicable) and contact information related to the event.
CALL FOR PHOTOS:
Let's make this a contest. What is the worse 914 photo out there? How about the cleanest stock car? Top race car? Send them all.
We already have a number of great photos for the calendar. But, we are also opening it up to photo submissions. So, get out your best 914 photos. We want to see cars in all stages of completion, stock, modified, race cars, piles of rust, before/after, and funniest photos. The winners will be featured in the calendar and the owner will receive a few free copies as well. Photos can be submitted by posting them in this thread, or by sending me a PM and I will send you my email address to submit them. Once photos are chosen we will contact you to get a high resolution version of the photo.
Photo submission note:
Please include the year of the car, whether it is a 914-4 or 914-6, size of the engine, car owner, name of the photographer, and the country where the car is located, if possible.

We are assembling a Porsche 914 calendar for 2015,
...
If I might ask, who's "we"?
The reason for my curiosity:
Today I received a call asking for Mr. Foley's office?
The person who spoke with me was female, pleasant - but gave no introduction.
She asked - if I was interested in sponsoring a calendar that Mid Engineering is producing(?), or something of that nature.
I really wasn't paying close attention by that point.
I said no I wasn't interested, and didn't think to ask for more details about the company or nature of the calendar before hanging up.
There used to be a company called Mid Engineering that was devoted to 914s.
Kelmark GTs were made by a company called Mid Engineering I think too.
Internet search revealed nothing of current value.
Any connection?

Sorry. I should have been more specific. I have dealt with many of the people in the forum for a while. So I didn't think to add more detail. I am Steve Martin. I was one of the owners of Mid-Engineering, which was exclusively devoted to the 914 through the 1980s. We sold parts, built parts, worked on cars, etc. In 1989 one of the owners of that company left the company for personal reasons and the company closed. I went to college. Fast forward 20 years. I love 914s and am always working on projects - shirts, hats, socks, and other products, etc. (bored professor syndrome, I suppose). I thought a 914 calendar would be cool to have and decided to produce one. It isn't a money maker. Just a fun project. As a part of my real estate businesses we have done calendars before. I am doing the 914 calendar through the business name that I do all of my 914 stuff - Mid-Engineering Werks.
We are looking for more sponsors for the calendar simply because we would like to include all of the major vendors in it. We would like to feature a business or event in each month of the calendar, and would love to include your company.

Sorry. I actually have been looking for one of those old Mid-Engineering catalogs for a long time. If you come across one, I would love to see it. If you want to feature your business in a month of the calendar let me know. I would love to have you included.

Check the dates of Okteenerfest (Sept 26, 27, 28) on the http://xtremesportsphotography.photoreflect.com/store/store.aspx?rd=2014%2F09%2F01 in the Porsches folders. I should be able to get the high res versions of any shot you may want to use.

Yes. With all of the great photos we have had submitted, I have thought about that. The issue is cost. We would have to sell at least 100 of each, and I am not sure that we would hit that number.

And if I wasn't there you'd think it was photo-shopped.
Good times....as luck would have it.

my 2cents worth; hard to pick 12, but should be a cross section of '70-'76, a /6 or 6, couple LE's. , some rare colors like copper metalic
, 2-3 custom cars like papa smurf, - i have not seen it entered here but the black beauty that was cut and choped that was for sale out west, maybe Craig at camp has a nice picture of that one!! it should be in here-
How about a back page or two with a collection of 50-60 smaller pictures of World member photos that are nice that dont make the cut for main 12 calender pages?

All great ideas. I think we have a plan that will work. We will put all of the usable photos (from a resolution standpoint) up for vote on 914world beginning next Monday. Fortunately, most of the photos that have been sent in are large enough to be used for main feature photos. We have some ideas for the ones that are not voted in for the primary 12. We have them covered too.
If you haven't emailed your photo(s) in for submission, please email the highest resolution version you have to - stevegm@mac.com
Note - We would also like for you to email your photos of old, rusty, heaps of 914 cars. Many have been posted. But, few have of these have been emailed. Please email them as well.

Over 70 great pictures to choose from so far. Thank you. We will post them in this thread Monday to have a vote on which 12 will be the primary photos featured in the calendar.

Thank you to everyone who submitted all of the great pictures. I have truly enjoyed going through them and looking at your works of art. We have been working this weekend to make them available for everyone to vote on starting tomorrow.
In the mean time, if you have not emailed me the highest resolution pictures you have please send them tonight. You can email them to - stevegm@mac.com
PS - Preorders for the calendar end today. If you haven't ordered one, or want to increase your order so you get more than one, you can do that here - http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=245199
We aren't expecting to have very many extra calendars. So order one, or two, or how ever many you want via preorder please.

Phil has a 72 914-4 listed in the "Members VIN Numbers" but there are no details in the VIN listing that could ID the car.
