914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Just got new SKF bearings from Pelican

I was expecting made in Germany... is this a problem?

Bearings have been made in Mexico since the 1920's. I had SKF & FAG bearings made in Spain, Brazil and France in addition to Germany. Shouldn't be a problem.

Don't be afraid. Mexico builds more Auto Parts than anywhere (& Airplane Parts too!)

Still made to SKF specs.
Even china can make good stuff if it's spec and they pay for it.

Living in Texas I have met some pretty crafty Mexicans. You should be fine.

well - yes

- but it's maybe more about the quality of the steel used in "mfgr to specs"

all "steel" is not equal

depends on what specs one is referring to - fraud abounds in the aftermarket, and China is most notorious for this

many of us in both porsche and the mazda markets have long eschewed "china steel" vs "German steel" when it come to bearings

many of us tend to believe that German steel is vastly superior - based on subsequent failures analysis
