Our Homeowners' association must hire from Stanford Security Rejects, Inc.
I want to paint my house. Call H/O assn (mistake 1) and they inform me I must submit a color sample and $125 to handle the cost of review. I ask, even for the same color? Yes!
Go paint store with chip from house. They match it. Buy one gallon, paint piece of cardboard (8.5x11 as required) and submit it with the check. Get letter from them.
'Your color as been rejected since is does not fit the palette.'
I call them and ask, 'OK, where do I get this palette?'
'There isn't one.'
'How do I know what color is OK?'
'Send us sample and we will let you know.'
So come on down. You can park your car in front of my house and help me paint. When the Paint Police come by, I'll use the Patti Hurst defense....
'A crazed NorCal liberal held me at gunpoint and forced me to use this color.'
Just a suggestion. Get a contrasting color approved and Paint a big FU*K YOU on the front of their house
Dave
I'd get a Wagner power roller, and paint the fuggin house freekin Ravenna one night.
You should start a fire!

LMFAO!!!
bravo on finding what must be the most senseless HOA ever organized. i like Dave's idea.
so the latest with my abandoned car is...... no news. nothing. i've called, emailed, went to see them in person, every one passes the buck. meanwhile i've got some renegade rent-a-pig running around with a true hardon for towing my car, and the apparent legal authority to do so. my legally registered, legally insured, valid-parking-permit-equipped-car, that is.
wtf.
Dood, I would be out of there in a second. I don't put up with shit, from dumbasses.
Why don't you go straight to the Dean, Yo?

Now watch it guys, this thread will get locked or deleted if it gets to political.
Just a warning from the thought police
Oh, I forgot...Does the $125.00 include a BJ?
Funny....when I was at Howie's house last month I asked what his Association was like...... I prolly jinxed him.
I live NEXT to an Association and I have been getting grief from them for 10 years. I don't belong, don't wanna belong, but they think because they are 18 members strong they can push me around.....been going rounds with them and I'm ahead on the judge's cards 8-2.....
It only takes ONE Nazi on the Association's Board to cause you grief.

Like I would be caught dead in a Motel 6......
I bought a new home in an area that was under the control of a HOA. Moved the fence 6 feet towards the street (Still 6 feet from the front of the house) and got cards and letters for a month. Finally went to one of there satanic sacrifice rituals and told them to bite me. Never heard from them since.

sound like a good way to make $125. WE WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS if I paid and the present color (on my house) was not aproved.

that's why you're not an admin ... Andy |
So sorry to hear your grief--I really lucked out--knocking on veneer right now, here in SoFl H/O is all the rage--cept where I live. Nope, none, no siree H/O can go themselves--Everybody around me for about 5 blocks works on thier cars, build things in the yards, and also mow thier own grass. I have a few times now been outside in my yard, at 8 pm with lights on my project and using a angle grinder or a sawzall with all the bravado of someone that just don't care---know what? Not a single complaint!!!!!
Course, It COULD have something to do with me being a federal law officer and 2/3 of the homeowners around here smoke pot---
But it is just a theory........ hehe
Do your worst to them nazi's--hell, if it is like most H/O ass. it will be years before you go to court, if it ever even comes to that---
On another note--my buddie who lives in Hollywood, next to the beach, went to work one day and came home to find a code enforcement ticket ( $50.00 ) on his door--the altercation??? One sprig of weed had grown 4 inches above the grass while he was at work!!!! True story----
So it cost $125 to compare a sheet of cardboard to, uh, NOTHING. How would that play out in small claims court?
my mother was the pres of a hoa, they had simple guide lines sheds must be same color and surface treatment as house, fences had to be one of ten designs, and you did have to get a permit for the above and for painting but it was free.
now there was a neighbor who put a permit in for a planeter across the front of his house, well he built it across and next to his house. then he asked for a permit for a flag pole, they said no till he asked for a permit to build the planter next to his house. well he put in the permit for the planter and it got approved. next the flag pole was to be a 15 pole, which he got approved for, but he put in a 25 footer, then he asked for a permit for a fence, which got disapproved, can you guess why, the guy always did more than what he asked for, but it always got approved after wards.
well six months later he tried to get a pool, which got approved, when they tried to did up his yard, the hole flooded, so he tried to put in an above ground pool. well what do you know above ground pools are a no no, he did it anyway. well the hoa sent letters, had the inspectors for the county turn it down, but he did it any way. then he learned his lesson. a year later after the pool was done with out county permits and stuff. the hoa got a court order and removed the pool, and even landscaped the yard where the pool was, now he has a 10000 lean on his house to pay for the removeal of the pool and the other work. my mother got out of the resinged from the hoa when the other members pushed this to that point.
hoa may suck but thier are reasons, not ones i understand but they have thier reasons
There good to keep the furniture and b-b-q's off the front lawn at least.
Thanks, all, for your support. It's just a bit of silliness that occurs when a really little person has nothing better to do. I like having a HOA, keeps the riff raff out
Anyway, the house is coming out great; I accidently started painting before I received their declination letter. Oopsie
Howard, they liked the color so much they probably wanted it for their house
Howard, I drive by this house everytime I head for my place in Vermont..
Rumour has it that the owners of the house and the town fathers dont get along.. Hence the "in your face" paint job! This house has been paintd in this fashion for going on 12 years now, and heck you dont see it from your living room!
I once lived in a development that had a homeowners association... getting away from those stepford assholes was financially one of the best things I have ever done..
What ever happened to individuality
co-op board/hoa kiss me right here
Attached image(s)
hahaha
Show up with full elevation plans on the new paint 'scheme' for your house, and it includes hand painted smileys, and 2nd grade fingerpaints..
Oh yeah... ravenna it is.

Howard,
Can't beat em, join em. Paint and landscape your house exactly like the presidents. Become the HOA president and then make your changes...
Man sure do love living in good ole South town USA. I put my car up on jackstands in the drive way every once in awhile and leave it for a few days just because I can. Tires off tools soread out and a oil puddle where I spilled the dran pan.
I'll paint my house what ever color my wife tells me So there!!!! Put a brick mail box infront of my house Because I wanted one.
We bought a small place & 4 acres on a lake wayyyy up in the mountains. Wouldn't ya know it there was a HOA with a bunch of anal Hitlers runnin around. This house was the eye sore of the lake for 15 years & we remodeled it complete with metal roof, new windows and paint inside & out. But they wouldn't leave us alone
We had to go thru the HOA for colors and the type of windows. What a bunch of BS. What really chapped us was when we tore down the old dry rotted deck & was in the middle of pouring a patio when an ass hole came up & said we had to stop & get permission to do that work...
We thru empty beer cans (& some full ones) at him till he left!
To drive 2 hours away from civilization and have the asshole HOA tell ya what to do is beyond what I can take.
BTW.... it's on the market

Ya know, it's not just this. CA DMV story:
When I bought the V8 car it did not have a front plate. The car is kind of 'noticible' so didn't want to get pulled over for no plate. Blow the extra $45 to get personalized when I find out MTLMTR is available. Cool!
Go to DMV and order plates. Turn in old plate and get temp permit. 6 weeks later, DMV sends letter, plates are in. Go in and wait almost half an hour while they look for them. Finally find one motorcycle plate that says MTLMTR. Cute, but not quite what I wanted for the 914. Yada yada, they will order another. 6 weeks later get a letter from DMV. They want an extra $45 since I would not accept the plates ordered. Right! I call and ask for my old plate back and a refund. Today I get yet another letter stating that if I do not come in and get my plate(s) they will destroy them.
For my convenience, the plates are in Modesto, 200+ miles away, not my local DMV. They give me an 800# to call. Can't wait to make this call tomorrow.
It ain't the HOA's, dems, republicans, christians, muslims or nazis. It's the idiots that are taking over the world. Thank God for Absolut and thank God I'm old; don't know how much more of this I can take
I love the fact that I can have 2 boats, couple of old snowmobiles, stack of firewood (tarped in whatever color I want), any kind of landscaping, my dog, and whatever the F else I want in my yard.
I will never again live in a neighboorhood with an HOA.
My 914 may even end up on jackstands in the driveway if I feel like it.
Howard
I hate to tell you that you can't run away from it by dying.
My dad died in 98. He loved to play golf so on his birthday I would take a couple of golf balls over and put them on his grave. Last year my mom got a note from the cemetary say that golf ball were not an "appropriate demonstration of affection".
