914World.com _ 914World Garage _ One less insurance option

Posted by: gregrobbins Feb 1 2005, 08:07 PM

I was doing a little web shopping for insurance today and requested a quote from Grundy Worldwide. Their commercials are nice and their website is informative, but they don't like our cars. Here is the reply I got from them.

QUOTE
Thank You for contacting GRUNDY WORLDWIDE's web site. Unfortunately, we are unable to insure Porsches model year 1974 or newer unless the vehicle is part of a collection of collector cars. Best of luck in your search for proper coverage on your vehicle.

Respectfully,

GRUNDY WORLDWIDE

Do you think they know how Porsches preform and how much fun they are to drive?

I just got a quote from them last week, but 914RS is a '72.

$590 for $40k agreed-value insurance.

There you have it...

I had great luck with Westfield. They gave me 'stated value' of $7500 and am paying like $600 a year.

Keep looking...you'll find something.

Wow, I have Hagerty with an agreed value of 8k (they will give me 8 if the car is lost) and I pay less than $300 per year. smilie_pokal.gif

You are allowed 2500 miles per year which is not a hard and fast rule with them, they do not ask for odometer readings. While I do not drive any of my cars 10,000 miles in one year, between the five of the "fun" cars I do log between 10 and 15k miles. If yours is a daily driver than obviously you have the best option. But if your teener (or any other car) is toy, there is no one better than Hagerty- best rates, service, paying claims etc. They are definately service driven.

i think they know how expensive the new cars are to repair, and they are not interested in taking on liability for daily-driver cars.

My primary and secondary cars are a leased, so I having a toy to drive in the summer saves me milage on the others...

...At least that's how I justified the purchase to my wife. wink.gif

(Think of the savings Honey...it'll pay for its self!)
