I'm out of town at mom's house for the weekend. No internet, 100 miles from my shop, just my cell phone. Yesterday the red wire on the positive battery cable with the fusible link shorted.Filled the bay with smoke. I can't remember what circuit this single wire provides power to. The car runs and drives, and everything works. Lights, charging, gauges, etc. Does anyone know off hand what circuit I'm dealing with? Have to drive car back home later today. I've isolated the fried wire and rendered it inert.
The 914 did not have any fuseable links. Therefor it is impossible to tell you what it went to.
Thanks Mike. That is what I was thinking. I think it was added at the dealer when the ac was installed. I'll get the car on the lift tomorrow and trace the wires back. If that's what it is, I'll remove it. I've already removed it from the battery.
evidently the fuseable link did not work.
