914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Increased stroke from stock 2.0L crank?

Posted by: VWTortuga336 Nov 29 2014, 01:41 PM

I've been doing some research on grinding crankshaft journals for increased stroke. Specifically, I've got a (what appears to be) stock 2.0L crank. I'm completely rebuilding the engine and will be getting some work done (inspections at least) on the crank and figured if there was some performance to be gained, I'd go for it.

I'm sure this has been done, or at least discussed here before. Can anyone give me some details on what I should do?

I cant say for sure but with the 2.0 having 50 mm rod journals it would seem that the factory basically made an offset ground crank out of the 66mm stroke, 55mm rod journal cranks from the 1.7 and 1.8's. The math makes sense. Did I get it right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
