I think this will be a fun and great opportunity for other 914 World members who are coming to the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in March 2015 to meet, get together and caravan our 914s up to Amelia Island, especially since the 914 is the featured car being honored at this event, the second most prestigious classic car show in North America (if not the world). Though the Concours is over four days, the first two days are individual and specialized events; some individually ticketed and some by invitation only. The third and fourth days (Sat and Sun) are the actual car shows, so I thought about doing two meetups, one before each car show on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is the Cars and Coffee at the Concours and Sunday is the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. The drive up Heckshire Drive (the road to Amelia) is an easy winding scenic road that goes right through the Intracoastal (inland water marshes) up along the coast and through Big and Little Talbot Islands to Amelia Island.
I am more than happy to welcome other World members to meet at my house. I have fresh ground coffee (I grind my own beans and get my beans from an excellent local roaster), breakfast foods, etc. Then we can all make a noisy 914 caravan up to Amelia. I am right next to the interstate that goes up to Heckshire and down the street from nice and affordable hotels on the way and next to the interstate for those staying from out of town. Unless you want to stay up at Amelia (which will cost more). Or, we can meet at my place then go to a local spot on the way for breakfast. Or we could all just meet at a place for breakfast and skip my house altogether. We can do this Saturday morning, Sunday morning, or both. I will be going to both days.
If anybody is coming and is interested in doing this, let me know so I can get an idea of how many to expect and make further more detailed plans to accommodate.

Entire Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Event Schedule: https://www.ameliaconcours.org/event-information.aspx
With Magnus Walker at the Concours. We had a long chat about 914s. He wants one. An Urban Outlaw 914 would be cool.
Just an FYI, Ferry Porsche's personal 914-8 that he was given for his birthday that resides in the Porsche Museum n Stuttgart is coming, as is George Hussey's original 916. The Brumos Porsche winning 914-6 GTs will be there including Hurley Haywood's first race car and first career win in a 914-6 GT. I also think the #40 914-6 GT that won Le Mans in 1970 may be there, but no confirmation on that as of yet.
Count me in!!!
So far that makes
I know there's more than three of us going to Amelia Island! Anybody else?
I'm probably going to go, but am flying in from San Diego.
-Steve
Steve, are you planning on renting a car? You should ride with one of us!
This event is overwhelming. You'll stay all day and not see everything. It's amazing. A couple years ago when the 50th Anniversary of the 911 was the showcase, the historic, rare and classic Porsches seemed endless.
I hope to go, but probably won't know for sure until much closer to the event. It's less than a 3 hour drive for me, so I hope to work it out between now and March.
A bunch of us are going from Peachstate PCA, but not in the 914.
im trying to have my new car done so i can go
I'm going to try to go...will be driving something other than a 914, though
Sounds like a fun time and since it's not too far I think I'll have to make the schedule work.
Reminder if you're coming to the Concours!
Hi, I'm looking into booking my room. Do you have any hotel suggestions close to the cruise Saturday morning?
Thanks,
Jon
I'll be attending. Driving down from PA.
Not in 914 though. It'll be in something Scandanavian:/
Hope to meet up with you guys.
I'm at work until tomorrow. When I get home I'll post some hotels close by. Do you want something close to Amelia Island or for the meet and drive up to Amelia Island?
Okay. Sorry for the delay, been working non-stop this week. Will post some hotels soon.
Does anyone have a schedule of events, as I see that there are several things going on over the weekend other than just the concours on Sunday? Will there be a separate 914 grouping at the concours or is the featured marque different?
Never been there, but I'm thinking of flying down to attend this year. Made airline reservations today, but had to get a hotel room by the Jacksonville Airport. If anyone knows of any hotel availability on Amelia Island, please let me know. Seems the ones I tried are all filled up already.
Hey George! Yes, I have the complete list of events posted in my Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance thread. You can check it out here:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=242957&st=0&gopid=2133192&#entry2133192
Thanks! Looks like a lot more things to see than time and energy permits.
It will be interesting to see how the 914s go over with that crowd. Wish I had the time to drive mine down there, but the airlines and rental car will have to suffice.
There are several hotels on Baymeadows Road which is the road between my house and I-95, which will be the first artery of the drive to the Concourse (I-95 North to JTB aka J. Turner Butler to 9A North aka 295 North to Heckshire Drive). Here are a few. If you would like to look further, the immediate zip code is 32256. I've also included aloft and Indigo, which are not on Baymeadows, but are actually close by (1 mile from Baymeadows and on the way to the Concours by JTB. aloft is my favorite hotel and my first choice if you guys like it. Other two favorite hotels in the area are Hotel Indigo which is next to aloft and Four Points on Baymeadows.

Thanks for the hotel information! I will be coming down from NC on either Thursday or Friday. My car is registered for the C&C, so I don't know if I will be able to join the caravan on Saturday, but I'm definitely in for a group drive to the Concours on Sunday. We were also considering hitting the "Porsche Driving Experience" on Friday. That seems like it might be a fun deal.
My car is in the C&C too. I presume we will have to get there early (they haven't sent out those details yet), but I plan to do a drive for the C&C too! Especially since we won't have to pay for parking! lol Also, we can park all our 914s together if we arrive together!
Alright peeps! We're getting close! Who's planning on doing the drive?
Though we won't be able to bring anything other than our rental car, we're looking forward to attending. We got a hotel room by the airport in Jacksonville, and would appreciate any info regarding the Cars and Coffee event on Saturday, as well as the actual Concours on Sunday. Should we purchase tickets for the Concours in advance or just get them once we're down there?
Will be attendance, but a party of three thus bringing the Suby. Meeting up with friends from Jax and might be arriving in one of their Porsches but not with our 914 gang - sorry. See you guys there.
The Cars and Coffee is free (Saturday)
The Concours event on Sunday is $80 advance, $100 day of.
I'm thinking about coming. What time are you meeting Saturday?
Does anyone know if Ferry's 914-8 and George Hussey's 916 be at the cars and coffee on Saturday? Or only on Sunday. I think I need to go back home Saturday evening. So I'm trying to figure out what there is to see Saturday.
I'd be in...
Isn't the Cars and Coffee on Saturday, and the Concours on Sunday? I assume you're driving together to the Cars and Coffee.
Though we won't have our 914 down there, we'll certainly stop by to say hi!
Quick rundown of the main attractions
Thursday:
RM auction previewing, open to all
Friday:
Goding previewing ( open to public )
Porsche driving experience ( sold out )
Goodings auction ( Bidding room is closed off, but there is audio and video all around the tents, and the cars remain on display until their time to go across the stage )
RM auction previewing, open to all
Saturday :
C&C
Festival of Speed
RM auction ( closed to public )
Hollywood cars auction ( open to public, 2 914-6 in this one )
Sunday :
Concours event
There is a lot more to see and do, but being 914 owners, I doubt any of us would shell out the $$$ to do them Know in advance, the preview for the Gooding auction does have an entrance fee ( 20-30.00 iirc) The RM auction cars are inside and outside the main hotel ( Ritz-Carlton) and is open to all, no charge
I'm trying to get the exact address for the condo we have ( Eric spoke of in his thread) for a teener gathering friday afternoon/night. The owners have been hard to get hold of. I'll pots here, and in his x-country thread once I have the address
I'm in! See ya on Saturday morning.
I'll be watching for you to post the address.
Anybody want to get together for lunch Saturday?
Hey guys! Yes provided I do not have to work Friday evening, I was going to suggest a 914 outing. There's a few nice spots we can go out for a drink, hang out and get to know each other.
Saturday morning for Cars and Coffee will be the drive. It will be EARLY. They start admitting cars onto the green at 7:15 AM to 8:45 AM. The earlier we get there (waiting) the better because there's 250+ cars on the green and I'm not sure how they have it organized if it's by marquee, but if we're all together (those in the Cars and Coffee) we can all park our 914s together.
I am thinking we can all meet for breakfast at 5 AM. That will give us an hour and 15 minutes. At 6:15 AM we should start the drive to Amelia which is a 45+ minute drive up the intracoastal and ocean coast on a one way winding road. Very nice drive.
I have been working non-stop but will be posting details for everything soon and will do a roll call of who is coming. I am also have another Concours thread you'll all want to be a part of (and everybody else to check out) as soon as I can get some time today to edit a few photos.

Anybody else in the Concours Cars and Coffee?
Since you guys don't live here and likely don't have a copy of this months First Coast Magazine (a magazine showcasing NorthEast Florida), I thought I'd share this with you.
This month's issue is dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance - which includes an article showcasing this year's featured and honored car - the Porsche 914
First Coast Magazine
February 2015
Here is the full article. You may also find it online here: http://firstcoastmagazine.com/in-the-magazine/porsche-914/
Porsche 914 - Born Under a Fast Sign
- A factory-entered Porsche 914/6 finished third in the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally
Porsche’s 914 began life in the late 1960s as a joint project between corporate cousins Porsche and Volkswagen. The economies of scale and the well-established engineering expertise of the famous German sports car maker made for a natural partnership.
Volkswagen required a sporty two-seater to replace the aging Karmann Ghia. Porsche needed something worthy of the Porsche crest but much less expensive than its well established six-cylinder 911.
The project was given to Dr. Porsche’s grandson, Ferdinand Piech. At the time Piech had other pressing corporate engineering responsibilities. He was creating a monster.
After two decades of being the king of road racing’s undercard, of being the gutsy underdog and more often than not the giant killer, Porsche was ready to fight for sports car racing’s ultimate prize: outright victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Herr Engineer Piech was their point man.
That a colossus like Porsche’s 917 could simultaneously occupy the same intellect as the civilized Porsche 914 sports car seems peculiar. But both the 917 and the 914 carried their engines behind the driver as pure race car engineering orthodoxy demanded.
- Gerard Larousse and Jean-Claude Perramond in the #1 914/6 from the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally
The 917 debuted a year after the 914 arrived in showrooms, and served notice at Le Mans that the rules writers of international sports car racing had left a huge loophole in the paragraphs about engine displacement and production numbers. The 917 packed a monster 4.5 liter air-cooled flat-12 that made enough power to blast through the loophole and shove the 917 down the Le Mans’ Mulsanne straight at something over 230 mph.
The 914 was powered by an air and oil cooled flat-four, that many Porsche purists and 911 disciples called a Volkswagen. But the Porsche family stamp was plain to see in the engine bays of both cars.
Perhaps that’s why something unexpected happened to the 914. There was some sort of cross pollination that invested the little mid-engine two-seat 914 with the Targa top – especially the 914/6, the model with the flat-six engine from Porsche’s iconic 911 – with some competition DNA from the mighty Le Mans-winning 917.
In 1970, the doomsday 917 delivered by winning Le Mans outright for Porsche for the first time. A few canny Le Mans observers noted that that a Porsche 914/6 placed sixth overall and was first among all the Grand Touring cars – even the bigger and more powerful Ferraris and Corvettes. The 914/6 even outran the best 911 by three laps, or 25 miles.
In less than a year the 914 established a blood tie to Florida’s First Coast, when Brumos Porsche’s Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood won the first IMSA GT race at Virginia International Raceway driving a tangerine-colored Porsche 914/6 GT (the same color as the 1970 Le Mans winner).
Behind the wheel of a Porsche, Haywood went on to win Le Mans three times, the 24 Hours of Daytona five times and the 12 Hours of Sebring twice. And it all started in the 914/6 GT, a racecar that still wears the same war paint it did in April 1971 at Virginia International Raceway.
Just after 9:30 AM on Sunday March 15, 2015, the most extraordinary collection of rare, unusual and in some cases, downright exotic, Porsche 914s will take to the fairways of the 20th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. The rarest of the rare 914s, the eight-cylinder 914/8 made for Herr Piech himself, will join Hurley Haywood’s 1971 IMSA Championship-winner and the 1972 Troutman & Barnes 914 custom pick-up truck on Amelia’s show field. A dozen outstanding Porsche 914s from around the world will assemble the first 914 exhibit at an international concours at Amelia.
It all started nearly five decades ago when a 12-cylinder Le Mans-winning monster and an agile, civilized sports car were born into a nice Bavarian family.
- Brumos' Peter Gregg hard on the brakes in his 914/6 GT at Sebring 1971
- George Larousse and Jean-Claude Perramond 914/6 in the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally
- Victory at Daytona: Jacques Duval, Bob Bailey and George Nicholas beat all the 911s in their 914/6 GT to win the 2.5 liter GT class placing seventh overall in the 1971 24 Hours
- A silver Porsche 916, there are only eleven in the world
We will be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We'd be up for getting together Friday or Saturday evening. I am not bringing a 914 and will probably not be up at 5 am for breakfast and the drive Saturday. But we'll see you at the C&C. We will also be photographing cars for upcoming issues of the magazine.
The - Save the 914 - shirts are done and almost all of them have been shipped out. I hope everybody will be wearing them at the event. If you didn't order one in the GB, I still have some extras - http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=248231
See you at Amelia.
Driving down from Maryland Friday morning, if Scotty B puts on a get together in the afternoon, we'll drop by on the way to Jax. Not sure if I'm bringing my Suby or 911 - travel partners plans are still up in the air. The 914 is definitely out I hate to say - have to return right after the concourse Sunday afternoon - just not comfortable enough for this old man to drive 1,500 miles in 72 hours with a couple of late nights and early mornings in there.
Staying with friends about 5 miles north of tumamilhem, taking a 914-6 and two 356s from there, but will be on our own schedule, so although close by, we won't be attending the drive or post C and C activities, sorry. Perhaps our paths will cross on the drive up.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Some of the very special 914s that you will see it the 2015 20th Anniversary of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance:
The bad-ass mac daddy of all 914s - The 300 bhp 1969 Porsche 914/8 (one of two factory /8s made) that was a prototype before the start of production in 1969. This 914/8 resides in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, DE. You know it well. It will be at Amelia. Ironically, my friend Tiger just sent me 30 minutes ago a picture of a 914 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart (he's there visiting there). He told me "the red car" I told him about isn't there. I told him because it was here.
The 914/6 GT that won it's class in LeMans in 1970, and 6th place overall - beating out every single 911. The legendary #40 Porsche 914/6 GT.
The car that first made Hurley Haywood famous, Porsche's most legendary racecar driver based here out of Jacksonville, FL and raced for Brumos Racing alongside Peter Gregg. Hurley's first racecar, his first professional race and his first win as a professional racecar driver, was in the Brumos #59 Porsche 914/6 GT. That will also be there.
Only eleven 916s were made (all in 1972). Intended for production, which it never did, the 916 never saw a dealership. Well, except for one. While most are owned within the Porsche family with just a couple outside, the only one that came to America. It was delivered here in Jacksonville to Brumos owner and legendary Brumos Racing driver Peter Gregg. It was much later purchased from the Brumos Museum by George Hussey, it's current owner and owner of Auto Atlanta. Most 916s are owned within the Porsche family, a couple outside, and most are in restoration. Except for George's 916, which is at Amelia.
I may try and catch up with some of you Sat, but not at 5 a.m. We kind of have our own schedule we go by each year. I consider this to be my vacation, so I like to keep it a loose/unscheduled weekend
My '74 will also be in the C&C on Saturday, but we are staying north of Amelia Island (actually in Georgia)... because I live north of Amelia Island (actually in North Carolina)
I'll PM you my contact info so that we can work out a meeting place/time Saturday morning so we can park together at the event. Of course, I also plan to be at the Friday beach gathering discussed in Eric's cross country thread.
I will be there but will be with family. If you see someone walking around with a 914 shirt on, introduce yourself it might be me.
We get in late Thursday night.
Betty and I will be in a rental Mustang (I told Betty I did NOT want an SUV).
We will see everyone Friday night at the restaurant in Jacksonville.
We are staying very close to your house, so we plan on being up and moving meet up at I-hop at 5am Saturday morning. Don't expect us to be completely conscious... that is 4 am at home.
We also plan on being there for the Beach party Saturday afternoon/night.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
what's the Friday beach gathering? I was going to have a gathering Friday evening at Ovinte and have a beach bar gathering after the cars and coffee on Saturday.
I've got a condo on the beach in Fernandina. Eric and I had been talking about doing something there friday night, either at the condo, or preferably on the beach. We had loosely talked about dinner in the historic area then heading out to the beach.
How's "Saturday" sound? It may give a few more people time to get in town.
Jaime is now along for the ride so we will have a "killer" documentary out of this whole deal.
Kickstarter campaign is alive and well and we'll need your help gang.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/498249448/the-914-experience-documentary
So Friday night at Tuma's place and Saturday at the beach ? Fine with me either way
What do you look like? If you're coming, post a picture of yourself!
Tommy Williams and "Valentine"
My wife and I are driving down from Atlanta Friday and staying with my uncle in Jacksonville and then all three of us are coming to the Cars and Coffee. I'm still thinking about attending the concours. Should be great!
Though we won't have our car with us, here's a photo of me with my wife Julie. Looking forward to seeing some folks in person.
Nice car, George!
I'll be there. I'm part of a group of 12 from Chicago Region of PCA heading down, but only 2 of us are 914 owners. Unfortunately, we'll all be flying down. However, I will be sure to stop by all of your cars on Saturday and say hello.
I'm coming in from Atlanta driving my 914. Are there suggestions for hotels that are still available? Is there a local contact person? Thanks.
Flight has been purchased, hotel is booked! Should be fun!
> To all going....Buy your tickets in advance. Trust me, you do NOT want to stand in that line Sunday morning
Done!
> Steve, are you planning on renting a car? You should ride with one of us!
Hmmm... I'm not sure! My brother and I are both coming, and we are currently planning on renting a car. But I do want to try and make as many 914 specific events as possible.
My rough schedule so far is below. What am I missing? Any other key 914 events planned? The drive Saturday morning is too early for me, plus we will already be staying on Amelia Island.
Fri
5:55pm - arrive JAX
7:00pm - 914world get together. Ovinte 10208 Buckhead Branch Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32246
Sat
9:00am-1:00pm - Concours d'Elegance Cars and Coffee @ Golf Course at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island
11:00am-4:00pm - RM Auction (need to be registered)
8:00am-6:00pm MotoXpo - first hole of the Golf Club of Amelia Island
any 914world evening events?
Sun
9:30am-4:00pm Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance (The Golf Club of Amelia Island)
any 914world afternoon/evening events?
Mon
3:42pm - depart JAX
And for all those east coast people that I've never met, here are my two 914s and build threads (orange car build should be resuming shortly...)

I think we're at the Hampton Inn by the Jacksonville Airport. Everything on Amelia Island was already booked up when we decided to get out of Chicago's winter for a long weekend.
If I understand the instructions correctly, it seems that general parking is at the Amelia Island Municipal Airport for spectators with shuttles to take people to the event sites.
Counting down the days!
So is it all figured out?
Friday night: Where, address, time?
Saturday morning for the breakfast and drive to Amelia Island C & C: tumamilhem's house (PM him for address), 4:30 - 5:05 am
Saturday afternoon or night? Where, address, time?
Considering driving up from Tampa. Hard to turn down the opportunity since i'm so close. In the Jeep since the car is in IL. It's about 4 hours driving, so depends on when I can get away from work. None of the other guys I've talked to from here are planning on coming up. If anyone is going from Tampa and would like to ride together, I'm all for it. If a few people are planning to stay in the same place, I'd prefer to do that vs. just finding a place.
I'll bring a bottle of decent scotch.
Just a reminder, today (Tuesday Mar 3) is the last day to order tickets online - save $20 and time standing in line...
Not to throw any sand on Sat afternoon's party, but you can see all the cars in the RM auction by walking up the back stairs to the garage roof. That's where they stage the cars going into the auction and where they park them after their time on the block.
FYI - Today is the LAST DAY you can purchase your tickets for the Sunday Concours event for $80. After today they will be $100.
Remember, the Saturday Cars and Coffee at the Concours (the day for the 914 drive) is a free event.

If anyone is looking to get a head count, please include me just for Saturday. With the baby on the way and money being tight, I was on the fence about going, but this will probably be my only chance to meet a few of you. So I'll drive up that morning and head back in the evening, but I'm looking forward to it!
Hey George! I guess you'll miss the drive but we'll see you at the C&C and then the get together afterward!
I'm trying to convince my wife and kids that they want to go to C&C on Saturday. So far, there aren't any other plans for that day, so I still have a chance!
Hey peeps! This is a world-class event honoring our cars, so dress appropriately! Now the question is which one to wear?
A lot of us are meeting for the first time. So if you have a 914 shirt, wear it so we can identify each other, especially for those who aren't meeting ahead of time and can't make the breakfast and drive. It will also look great for the PMB 914 documentary! Also, posting a pic of yourself here if you're coming will help too! Looking forward to seeing everybody!
Wear one on Friday evening at Ovinte so we can spot each other!
Wear one on Saturday for the Cars and Coffee at the Concours and for the Beach Party afterward and the PMB 914 documentary filming!
Wear one on Sunday to show your support for our cars being honored at the Concours d'Elegance!
Save the 914 or Save the 914-6, of course. :-) But, then again, I am biased. I have only sold them on 914world, so we will all instantly know that is a world member if you see the shirt (but that is true of the 914world and Octeenerfest shirts too. Very nice shirts). I will also have more Save the 914 and Save the 914-6 shirts with me if anyone needs one.

Shame, for the concourse eight 914-6 in attendance, and seven of them are GTs. And no 914-4s. Not really a true representation of 914s, but I'm not surprised at all.
Finally getting around to restoring my spare set of fog light grills. One of the ones on my car has a crack. Cleaned up the corrosion on these and they almost look new! Now to prime and paint satin black for the LE. After all, they have to be concours for The Concours! Nothing like waiting to the last minute. :/
Thanks, Steve! I almost wish I didn't have to paint them black! lol
Stopped in Brumos today and saw this framed photo of Brumos from 1972. Nice looking 914 in the showroom!
But WAIT! Wait until you see what's in there NOW! Will post some pics later.
Here's a tease...
Ever wonder what a brand new 914 looks like?
Pics coming soon.
I agree & I smell politics; glad I didn't bother trying to do this crap.
Tommy, do you know how many 914s are in the C&C Saturday? How many are driving over with you? Just curious about the 914 showing. I am a little disappointed there aren't any 4s in the Councours Sunday.
Got done with work and am packing our bags tonight for an early morning flight to Jacksonville! After the Chicago winter, Amelia Island should be great?
Looking forward to meeting some of you folks, my 914 tee shirts are packed!
Acceptance to the Concourse is more about who know, less about the car...
Also keep in mind that the 914 is not the only featured marque - just one of several. Therefore it is not their intention to have a good representation of the 914 line, just a few examples. I also find it interesting that their website makes no mention of the featured marques, it's buried down in the news link. So what does all this really mean?
But I do feel it is a shame that the bread and butter of the model is not represented.
None the less we would be there no matter the featured marques - well worth the 10 hour drive any year.
I applied and was turned down, tried to get my 1974 1.8 in as the "truest" example of the "everyman" version of our beloved car.
Sorry I won't be there, though! Have fun everybody and post lots of pics.
Paul
En Route
guys....let me be the potential asshole here. There seems to be a lot of animosity about no 4's in this show and I think a lot of you are misinformed about what the Concourse is about. The show is the rarest of ALL makes. This is not about mass produced public cars. You will NOT be seeing any perfect 1965 Mustangs with 283's in them, you will NOT be seeing any perfect 1968 camaro's with a 350 in them etc. This is not about the overall condition of any and all cars, it is about the oddballs, the uber rare, the uber pricey cars.
We are here and that green 914 is all that is here. The receptionist says there are other cars at museum but it is not open to public. And it is at the Mercedes dealership across road. Is anyone else here and know how to get in to look at the cars, or do we twiddle our thumbs until tonight. I guess we could go to Amelia island and get our concours ticket and test drive some cars.
you're not getting into the museum. They are having a paid Porsche event there right now. Tickets are long sold out. I had one but decided not to go since Drevil made it down
Head over the the goodings auction at the Omni. The preview is open. Costs 20.00 or 30.00 bucks to get in, but well worth it
Where is Goodings auction?
the Omni hotel right down from the Ritz.
You can ( and I would highly recommend ) pick up your concourse tickets today at the Ritz, then drive down the road to the Omni. The auction tents are pretty obvious from the main road. Parking is going to start getting bad today, and will get worse the rest of the weekend so be prepared to walk.
It's a GORGEOUS day in NE FL today! 75, sunny and breezy!
If you're headed to the Concrous, here's your schedule for the day, including our 914 World Member meetup at Ovinte tonight!

So if you've ever wondered what a brand new 914 looked like (and I don't mean restored new, but showroom new), here you go. A bit over 4,000 original miles from driving it back and forth from the museum, this fully loaded (except read defrost window and passenger side mirror) 1974 Irish Green 2.0 is - literally - showroom new.
Some interesting things to notice:
1. Tires - see the tread pattern? These are OG tires, 41 years old!
2. Gauges - let this debate be put to rest. My LE - same year, engine and time, was made on 14 February 1974. It originally came with black dot centers. Yet there was a SLIGHT crossover that early, EARLY 1974 914s carried over the early silver dot center gauges. This is one of them. A '74 with original silver dot gauges.
3. Don't know how to start the car? Just read the instructions on the original sticker still on the ash tray, dummy!
- Sit Down
- Buckle Up
- Turn Key
4. I've only seen one of these ever, and I finally found one and put it on my car, being very stringent on keeping my LE as original and OG as I can - see the interior light between the seats? White switch - not black.
Enjoy!
Very cool. Thanks for the pics. If it was mine, I would drive it. Lots!
Looking forward to seeing more pictures. Enjoy everyone down there!!!
Neat, where exactly is the green 914? Which dealer?
And... I'm on the plane now and on my way!!!
-Steve
I have no recollection of center caps on a 914/4 w/ a Porsche crest. My LE never had them & I still have all 4 of my original center caps in pristine condition.

I had a fantastic time and enjoyed meeting so many people in person finally, in addition to seeing a few I've met before. It was a fantastic show, and a fantastic turnout of 914 World guys. The weather was about as perfect as it could ask for. Made it home safe, with only minor sunburn, and hope the rest of you do as well.
Weather was warm and sunny today for the Concours. It was great to see George Hussey's (freshly repainted) 916 and Ferry Porsche's 914-8 in person. There was a wonderful display of 914-6GTs and the 914-6 'pickup truck', all tucked in front of Porsche's display of their electric hybrids and 918.
Now, on to the PCA Parade and Rennsport Reunion in the Fall. Great year if you're a Porsche fan!
WOW. 914 lovers, this was unprecedented.
First off, I was extremely honored to have my LE Can Am on display at the Saturdat Cars and Coffee at the Concours. which for the main event on Sunday, honored, featured and displayed ONLY the 914 in the entire Porsche marquee lineup! NO classic Porsches OF ANY KIND were on display at Porsche except for ONLY a long row of historically significant 914s - and a lot of green in front of them to view them from. In fact, all of Porsche's green was reserved for just the 914. This unprecedented and VERY bold statement in world of Porsche commands and demands the long overdue respect that the 914 deserves.
For the 914, our time has come.
To our big brother the 911, we respectfully extend to you... our middle
I got about 400 really good pictures of 12 914s. Instead of rushing to post, I'd rather take a bit of time to go through and edit them for you guys to make them more memorable. In the meantime, here's the one that makes me the most proud.
Hello,
Was great seeing World members at Cars & Coffee & the
concours. Eric thanks for trusting me with the keys to the GT, while you
Interviewed Hurley Haywood! fantastic.
Awesome meeting Jamie,Andy,Tommy & catching up
with evil one. As well as many others. I can't keep track. Gettin old.
914's well represented. The GT cars present were awesome
to see in person. The cars and coffee 914's were just as nice.
Tommy's LE was very sharp. I'll post pics when I'm back in
Pennsylvania. Driving home in a.m.
Can't wait to see the "Documentary"!
Safe travels to all. Had a blast.
Dion
Tommy the LE looks great bud . So good to see it again & in such a special venue. Congrats
Keep those damned euro lenses off of Valentine!
^ Actually, I'm looking for a G50 Carrera.
But yes, it was just in jest. The 911 gets all the attention. For once, we get noticed.
Sara and I had a great time! Far better than we had imagined. The 914 crowd is as impressive in person as it is on the forum. Was great to meet all of you. As new 914 owners we didn't know what to expect but what a great group it is. And…the 914 display today did not disappoint.
Tommy, thanks for the great Jacksonville hospitality. Really appreciate all of the work you put into this.

Did anyone take any pics
Hey guys! I took TONS of pictures and am editing them now. I'll be posting them in sequential order of events (Cars and Coffee, the 914 World Member and 914 Experience East Coast Beach Party and The Concours d'Elegance).
First I'd like to say that it was a real honor and pleasure meeting everybody who came to the three events I hosted. I really enjoyed everybody's company and I'm so glad that everybody had such a good time. It was really nice to put faces, names and personalities to everybody we've interacted with on here with just a handle. Everybody was so nice, warm, welcoming and really just wonderful to get to know. And I'd like to extend an open invitation to all of you who came to get together anytime you're coming through Jacksonville.
I'd also like to send a special thanks once again to Eric, Andy and Jaime, who came to my house to help me out last minute with my car. The entire weekend you guys were just really nice, down to earth personable and a great group of guys. And I think on behalf of all of us on the World, we thank you for your efforts in making this documentary for all of us. Of course, I'm sure it's been great fun for you guys too, as it should be. And thank you to all the World members who helped pitch in funding this project.
Now onto the pics!
So the first set is from the Cars and Coffee at the Concours. Some 914 World Members braved the early hours to gather for food (coffee) and drive up to Amelia early for the couple of us that had to be there early to park on the green. There were hundreds of cars for the Cars and Coffee, but admittedly I didn't walk around too much and stayed primarily in the Porsche section and mostly by my car talking to people and generally just really being excited it was there. There were about nine 914s, two of which were completely OG - mine and John's 1970 Irish Green /6 with brown interior. Others were /6 conversions, most of which were tastefully done, and a couple /4s that had slightly modified engines. I also took a few shots of other cars that caught my attention for the brief time I wandered away from my car... which I took 100 pictures of itself. Enjoy!
I put on my NOS American lenses for the first time to make my car perfectly correct for the Concours, switching out my Euro lenses. I also just finished restoring my second pair of fog grills so late, that I didn't even get to put them on until I got to the green. They were corroded so I sanded them down with 0000 steel wool, cleaned them up, primed and painted them satin black. Came out pretty nice to show!
Leaving the 914 World Member Breakfast that morning:

After the Cars and Coffee, we had the East Coast Beach Party at the historic Spanish Casa Marina hotel on Jacksonville Beach and later on at The Pier Cantina and Sandbar for 914 World Members to meet, hang out, enjoy, have cocktails and conversation and also for the Right Coast compliment to the West Coast Beach Party for The 914 Experience documentary film. Everybody had a great time!
Group shot of the 914s at the ECBP. Unfortunately, 2 had left before we took the group shot (there were 6 in all).

After Casa Marina, some of us went next door to The Pier for dinner, drinks and more socializing on the boardwalk.
Great cars...sure would be nice to get some names of the people in the group shot.
While enjoying the pictures (while I edit hundreds more), you can also enjoy this video from last year. Every year at the Concours is completely different, showcasing various marquees, having many, many examples of a celebrated car, different themed cars, showcasing certain eras, racers, almost anything you can think of. Here's just a glimpse into last year's show in this short film. Click the title of the film for the link.

Recounting the 19th annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in Amelia Island, FL March 7-9 2014. Tons of exhaust noise and up close footage, with comments from Amelia Island Concours Founder and Chairman, Bill Warner.
We unload a 1967 Ferrari 330 P3/4 from a car carrier at 5:30 am, ride in an early sixties Aston Martin DB4, get chauffeured at 170mph by Hurley Haywood, hang out with Jochen Mass, take in a lot of carbon monoxide and end up really sunburned.
Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Maserati, the 50th anniversary of McLaren, Jochen Mass, BMW CSL 'Batmobiles', the cars of Zagato, Chrysler concept cars, the Underslung and much more.

The rarest production 914 debut at the most prestigious car show in the world, where the 914 was celebrated in unprecedented form.
And now, the BEAST! The Mac Daddy of ALL 914s - the 350 bhp 908 engine 914/8!
Notice the dome light in the roll bar, the labeled knobs and switches in the center console between the seats and on the dash, etc.
IT'S THE /8!
How much do u think is original.
Flat side center tunnel and orange carpet
Orange Upholstry
Foam looking bumper pad
Flat front dash pad?
I srr things I would like for my car!
It's all original. This was a prototype built in 1969 before production began. They still hadn't decided on a lot of what was going into the production cars. Different bumpers, different driving lenses (I believe all prototype 914s had these angled lenses, similar to the G50 Carreras how they angled back), dome light in the roll bar, different dash, console, seats, and yes the leather upholstery looks like it was hand machined, not mass produced as there are some imperfections. The cloth upholstery was made for these seats, which are unlike the production seats. Even the rolled flares on the wheel wells are different. And obviously the quad headlights which only one other 914 prototype (no longer in existence) had. It's all different. And KEWL!
Gotta say .
I am in love !!
What a car !
WOW
The 916
One of eleven made, Porsche intended the 916 to be its next supercar. But lackluster feedback of the 914 at the time ceased those intentions and it never went into production. Most 916 are awaiting restoration. This 916 was delivered from Porsche to Brumos here in Jacksonville in 1972. It was housed in the Brumos Museum for years. It was eventually purchased by current owner George Hussey of Auto Atlanta. It was recently resprayed just over a month before the Concours d'Elegance.
And with the man himself, the owner of what is arguably the most impressive private 914 collection in the world, Mr. George Hussey.
And that is his only positive anything.
Is the museum car Signal Orange or Tangerine? Looks darker than signal on my computer.
Though many choose not to deal with Auto Atlanta (let's not start a bashing thread), we have to thank him for bringing this car down to Amelia. To have the 916 there certainly made the event special for all 914 fans. It was great to be able to see these cars up close and personal. A very nice write-up in the Amelia Island program was another nice surprise.
Interesting. I didn't realize that Tangerine and Blut Orange were the same color. I guess i'm not the only one who thought Tangerine was a bit lighter.
But yes, it is Blut Orange.
As cool as the 914-8 is, I love the 916 & have seen that car up close, 12 years ago, in Atlanta. BTW- it's built on a 4, not a 6 chassis. Only one to have AC as well.
Huh. Interesting. I knew about the ignition switch of course, but didn't consider that part of the chassis I guess. I didn't know about the rest of it. Interesting.
it's quite possible that the reason that one in particular has the side markers is because it's the only one that came to the United States. So they were probably installed at the factory for US spec. If that's the case, they should remain for originality. but yeah they would look better without.
True. that's the only explanation I can think of, but you're right because it wasn't really intended to be a racer when it came here because it was not going to go into production but the museum. I kind of wish we could take them off of our creamsicles. then again mine is a driver and there's too many idiots on the road. They need to see me switching lanes because they can barely see me at all as it is. :/
and yeah I was surprised to see the AC in there considering it was supposed to be a race car. I forgot that Brumos installed it. Which would be the case anyway since none were factory installed. Then again, it is pretty hot here in the summer.
Wow, I am shocked.
This is why I don't enter cars in shows anymore...
People suck. I mean really. Get a better grip on your camera, Leave the freekin' board at home, and have respect. It makes me sad.
I am shocked that Porsche allowed the car to sit in the wide open like that.
In the mid 80's I was at a car show and witnessed some DillWeed on a bike looking at a very nice original 904 He actually fell on the car and broke a headlamp lens and did damage to the paint.
I know the guy who owns the 904 and have been to his house many times. That poor 904 never did get not get out much after that. I have never seen it at a show since, only at his house. Very sad.
Sorry, rant over...
you know Steve, I actually asked George about that. Because I thought it was originally Gemini blue. but I must have been mistaken, I could have been thinking of another 916. I also asked about the interior because the Gemini blue one had some funky Paisley looking interior that I knew at some point have been reupholstered. I guess I just assumed that all the prototypes had the same interior. This one had grey leather with off white cloth interior with the Porsche lettering. it also had storage side baskets in the car door. Kind of like what you would have found in a Cadillac. which I thought was odd. but this is the one that was on the cover the magazine back then and it was silver then. Although he did just have it repainted recently.
The Gemini blue car was another 471 car George owned. He may still, but I think he sold it a few years ago. IIRC it used to grace the print catalogs cover
There was another 916 in the US for a while & it was Gemini Blue. It was sold around 4 or 5 years ago & I believe it's back in Europe.
Attached image(s)
Yep! That's it!
Well they had intended the 916 to be their new supercar and recognizing the 914s obvious advantages over the 911. But the 914 got lackluster reviews so production never went forward. Ironic considering it was Porsche's best selling model by far to date. Though that was likely because of the /4's low price point. Otherwise the /6 would have continued.
If only the /4 had more (hp). But then it would have surpassed the 911 flagship. And Porsche wouldn't do that. Which is also ironic because they were looking for a replacement (928 and 944 were both supposed to replace the 911).
So Hussey's (Brumos) silver 916 was delivered to US spec with the side markers as I thought. I guess by regulation it had to be regardless of what they were going to do with it jjust for bringing it into the country.
I can confirm that one of them (almost certainly #18) was at the 98 Monterey Historics. I even have a few photos of it around somewhere. I'll need to scan them... It used to live up around Clear Lake or somewhere like that, and was occasionally driven on the street. It showed up at a Stanford Concours, and was seen driving away from that down El Camiono Real... It wound up for sale at a "classic car" type dealer in SF, and was listed on Ebay on several occasions.
The list says that it's now in Austria. It must have been re-imported in the mid- to late-2000s?
--DD
916 #18 was most definitely at the Monterey Historics in '98. I have a ton of pictures of it and with it. It carried the blue CA license plate of 916 S at the time.
About 5-6 years ago it came up for sale and I called on it just for grins. I think I saw it in Hemmings. The owner was asking $300,000 for it so that pretty much crushed any thoughts I had about snagging it for the coup of a lifetime. I saw a youtube video a couple of years after that call showing the car being driven in Austria by a couple of younger looking guys. I did hear that it was indeed sold and went back to Europe. The story was also told that the, I believe 2.4 liter motor, was rebuilt by the new owner and the mechanicals refreshed.
I did think about selling my house and buying it, but somehow I don't think my wife would have enjoyed living in a 916 as much as I would have.
#0018 was bought by an Austrian dealer from CA for a customer in Germany
the day it came to Austria, I traveled accross the whole country, just to see it in person
that's me next to #0018 (June 22, 2007)
the same day I got a ride in this car, the video is somewhere on 914world - just search for it
a couple of days later, the car was brought to ist current owner in Germany
Gustl
^ Well done, Gustl! That must've been pretty exciting! Very cool.
1970 914/6 GT Sunoco #5 (#1017)
Famous for its First in Class win in the 1971 24 Hours of Daytona and coming in 7th overall, #1017 as never been restored and looks today exactly as it did in 1971.
Bet that sounded nice driving across the grass for its award! Sorry to have missed that! Seeing the Piech 914-8 would have been pretty special too!!
Neatest thing is that car is original...
I took video of them driving. It was pretty cool to hear a historic GT! I'm sure some of the parts must've been replaced. Driving lenses were clear with no chips. I'm surprised the paint was so good too. Really cool to see. The other GTs coming soon.
And yes, the 350 bhp 914/8 was worth the price of admission alone! I know a lot of people were very anxious to see that car which is why I took so many detailed pictures of it. Who knows? Maybe they will even help someone try to make a clone!
1970 914/6 GT #2
One of the 1 - 2 - 3 GTs that finished in the top three spots in the Marathon de la Route at Nurburgring in 1970. 86 hours of punishing racing beginning with 64 cars, only 23 remained and the 914/6 1, 2, 3 GTs finished together far ahead of entire field in a blaze of glory.
Thanks for the detail shots of the #2 Nurburgring car. It really gets me thinking about the mercurial legacy of the 914. On the one hand, a racing platform that proved almost too good for Porsche marketing purposes, while as a humble, entry-level sports car for the masses it carried such state of the art elements as 4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, independent rear suspension, optimal weight distribution and air cooled simplicity. Combine that with flexible storage at both ends, spacious cabin for two, a rigid removable top that stows in seconds without robbing space, thrifty fuel consumption and a huge fuel tank for long range cruising and you have a blazing star streaking across the automotive universe....disappearing before many even saw the flash.
It passed so quickly from the scene that it's charm was appreciated by a narrow slice of enthusiasts at the time, and yet, 40 years later, the car remains relevant on the track, street and especially.....those twisty canyon roads.
I'm sure the 914 legacy created an awakening among some of the Amelia Island attendees and made them pause to consider the 914 in a different light. While not viewed as a styling masterpiece, time has treated our funny little cars well: ahead of it's time in it's day and standing the test of time in the present. We are privileged to share that little secret of 914 brilliance which is now being recognized on a somewhat wider scale.
is this a factory mod?

I find it odd, both in concept & the fact that it was in concours. Looks nice, but it's still odd.

Those gas burners look SO FRESH! Damn.
From local First Coast Magazine promoting the 914 at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance
This gas burners look too narrow, and were certainly place keepers for something else. I would not let my car be shown that way, but maybe someone knows something I don't. You get one chance in the sun at Amelia Island and you show those?
Can someone fill me in on why the car had those wheels on it?
I was thinking the same thing.
But I think it was displayed as it was raced in the Monte Carlo Rallye.
It was a snow and ice rallye.
I was thinking the same until I looked closer at the pic- those are snow tires all around and for the rally conditions you'd want heavily treaded pizza cutters... they look as if they may be studded too.
1970 Porsche 914/6 GT - #88 "fly Lufthansa"
One of the first eleven factory GTs made, this GT features the unique double gas tank system for the racing team Dorner and Schwartz. In 1970 it won 2nd in its class and set the 1000 km lap record for its class at Nurburgring.
I love these factory GT seats! They are way cool! I like these much better than the straight angled "GT" seats we see made. I'd love to have these on a /6 conversion.
Great pictures of the GT cars! I like seeing the little differences between the four of them.
1971 914/6 GT - Brumos #58 (#59)
This Brumos car was entered by Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood in the 6 hour IMSA at Watkins Glen in 1971. It raced under the infamous #59. In 1972 it was bought by Hector Rebaque and raced in the IMSA race in Bridgehampton, Daytona 6 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours. After restoration, the car was retired and has not raced since.
It would be nice if we could have all the pictures posted in their own locked thread as a reference. Maybe in the Paddock form?
very cool pics
thanks for sharing
does anybody know the VINs of these two cars
1971 914/6 GT - Brumos #59
One of just 11 1971 factory 914/6 GTs, This was legendary Porsche driver Hurley Haywood's first race car, driven in his first professional race and first professional win. Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood raced this car's first win at Virginia International Raceway in April of 1971 and also won Bridgehampton and Summer Point, as well as five class wins and won the 1971 IMSA championship in #59. After restoration in 1988, Hurley raced #59 for its first vintage win in West Palm Beach.

1970 Porsche 914-6 GT T Troutman Truck #0p
Not a factory GT, but originally one of the only five 914-6s factory built with the Sportomatic transmission, this car was acquired by Porsche builder Dick Troutman in the 1970's after the car suffered damage from an accident and was rebuilt as a pickup truck. A decade later it was sold to Kevin Jeanette of Gunnar Racing who spent 20 years restoring and building it as the 2.5 liter 914-6 GT racing service truck you see today. His inspiration was to decorate the car as a "factory" entered high speed service truck for 914-6 GTs racing the 1970 86-hour Marathon de la Route at the Nurburgring.
Pretty sick truck.
as lots of these information tables, also this one is not correct ...
there were 16 factory built 914/6 Sportomatic
I used to own the very last built
1970 (1972?) Porsche 914-6
I noticed a few discrepancies with this car. It's labeled as a 1972, but the build date in the description indicates it was built in May of 1970. Not sure which is correct and which is the error, but the serial number posted will tell you for sure if you're interested in finding out.
This car was originally a factory-built European 914-6 (Euro badging, multi-colored driving lenses and taillights, no side marker lights, etc.). A few months after it's sale in Finland, it was sold and shipped to America. Some inquired why it was not changed to American safety requirements when it came to America (taillights, side marker, etc.), which is an interesting point because for to be road-worthy in America, it would have to meet those requirements.
The car was in good original shape before restoration, but I did notice a few things that the restoration made period-incorrect, most notably the vinyl between the back pad, the driver seat and the door card are not consistent in their textures. One is early vinyl, the driver seat is mid-70's vinyl and the door card is (not sure) but different from both. The wipers are also too far down (obviously can be reset). There were a few other things, but memory escapes me. Regardless, it's hands-down the nicest factory 914 I've ever seen (along with the 1974 Irish Green in the Brumos Collection). I was particularly impressed with the detail to the wheels, so I got some close-up shots for you guys for restoration purposes. Basically, for those of us who weren't around when they were new, this is what a factory car looked like brand-spanking new at a dealership. Pretty damn nice.
This car resides 12 miles from my house in Atlantic Beach.
anyhow ... cool car and cool photos - thanks for sharing
btw - by any chance, did you notice the VIN of the truck ...?
Since there's so many GT- T truck fans, I thought I'd post some detailed shots and descriptions of all the things that are going on with this truck since so many are interested. There were lots of things you didn't see on the car at the show because a lot of things had to be opened up to observe, underneath the car and in the cabin. So here are detailed shots and descriptions of what's going on with this truck. Also to help those of you who are interested in building one of your own. So here's 46 things you didn't know about the GT - T Op ("Opie"). Enjoy!
Notice the red adjusting screws on the lower Oscars. These are so the driver-mechanic could adjust them to the area where the car was broke down.
The headlights are the motor free headlights. High pressure gas struts eject the light into the open position.
Original GT tank still leaves room for a 6 inch alloy. Fuel pump is protected with a stamped aluminum shield. Just enough room for everything to fit.
Note the strut. This could be used for a deck lid on any small car, but Porsche engineers figured by using this method they would save more than 10lbs of weight.
When the daylight hours come the headlights are just pushed down by the mechanics. The cable goes to the cockpit and is in the cable housing for the front trunk (that isn't used anymore).
Aluminum strut holds the tank in. On most other GT's this strut is steel.
This is the 2 into 1 coupler so when the driver releases the cable it pulls both headlights.
The Cibie light in the background is actually used in a lot of the original GT headlights.
Some detail shots of the window area including the 12 volt safety switch.
Adjustable roof mounted spotlight- so the driver could search for the car abandoned on the track in the dark.
This special light came from Lebanon, Beirut.
(Sweet! I'm Lebanese. )
Factory 8" alloys. No paint.
Factory 9" alloys in the rear.
Gt door panels.
Note the seat clearance for the emergency brake. This was done on the driver seat only. Some 914 GT's had the emergency brake between the seats, mostly rally cars.
Note the oil lines. They are covered the oil lines in the Collier 914 GT.
914 GT's had the same wire harness as the 6 cylinder. Just a few added cables for extra ignitions and lights, etc.
Fatty racing steering wheel. Note the oil tank level gauge. This car has capabilities of knowing how much oil is in the tank.
Repa seatbelts for both seats.
Plexiglas rear window and aluminum roll bar. That's right, aluminum.
Cockpit safety switch is easy to get to between the seats. Not all GT's had this either.
Twin grill- the way they should have all been built, not the non-matching grills with sheet metal screws holding them together.
Trick 2.5L, 12mm twin-plug engine.
"Op" is for the car's nickname "Opie".
The ID light is a dash warning light (low fuel) from other racing Porsches. On the other side the light is blue which matches the dayglo blue. This would make it easy for the driver of the broken down car to see at night. Might be too late if he sees the light go by! He would have to wait another 15 minutes for the car to come around.
Bilstein racing coil over struts with titanium springs.
Headers with a Bursch extractor.
The "T" stand for Truck.
In this picture the "T" should stand for towing. Note the tow hook next to the red Le Mans tail light. Oh... did you see the cookie cutter tailpipe?
Deck lid down. First compartment contains a floor jack with tow cable and jumper cables. Second compartment is an oversized 12 volt battery.
How do you see at night - Special Marchal spotlights.
The bungee cords would hold parts in the bed. In the rules, everything had to be bolted or strapped down including items in the truck bed.
Each light has a different length cord. This one is 20 ft and the other is 30ft. These lights stand on their own when removed from their storage perch.
In case you need gas. This is an original Esso German gas container. These containers were installed on the rally cars... just in case.
Special adapted muffler clamps hold the quick remove Heinzmann fire extinguishers.
Hazet was one of the sponsors.
Reflective tape is installed on the outside of the toolbox. The toolbox is held in with hood gummies similar to the RS Carrera deck lid.
The toolbox needed to be removed in a hurry.
All the tools needed to work on a broke down 914.
Nice things to have when you're rescuing someone. You don't know if they can be helped, but this gave them a chance to get back home (pits).
Battery is in an easily accessible location- not in the engine bay.
All great shots of the troutman truck, but why not make a new thread for it, one for each GT and one for the /8
there are so many pictures in this thread they all begin to blend together and the info is lost
Correct me if I am wrong, but I am not up to speed on the differences between the LE line of cars.
First, it's basically a trim package? Right?
I thought they were all black and yellow?
There has always been a rumor of other colors but I though that had been debunked??
Why yes......I had read.....on the internet somewhere....that in an attempt to sell the remaining inventory the porsche AUDI folks painted these (LE) cars different colors in an attempt to market and mimic the so called "Disco Era" music popular at that time.
Hi, do you know anything about the tangerine 914/6 GT reg ‘Yep a 6’ that you captured pics of at the Amelia island c&c event? Am curious about the build and engine spec, as well as who may have done the modification work, and when? Thanks B
