Everybody has been a great help with my car so far so thank you.
I've discovered I'm giong to need to update 3 things on my car in order to go racing. I need to find a fuel cell to fit the 914 along with a Lexan windshield and a Halon fire system with two nozzles.
Anybody know of any sources?

don't know about the needing a leaxan window but the fire system and fuel cell are easy.
fuel cell front trunk, 8, 12, 15 gal depending on engine and duration of race.

fuelsafe makes a cel out of the stock tank. its about $1500 I think. Most cars just put the cel in the front area (I did) but that is right in your crumple zone.

I haven't seen rules about Lexan windshields, but I don't do SCCA and for now a glass windshield is a better option for me. (I have no door glass and a Lexan rear window, however.) I am pretty sure you will at least need windshield hold-down tabs, though, and Smart Racing Products has those.
I got the Fuel Safe / Patrick type of cell as shown above. It is spendy but has some pluses: large (basically stock) capacity, keeps the front trunk floor open for oil cooling etc and keeps the cell out of the main crash/crumple zone, and is widely accepted for vintage racing where you can't move the fuel tank from the stock location.
Lastly I went with the 4L AFFF Spa fire system, which I got from Sube Sports in Huntington Beach, CA but there are several good systems and all the major race parts suppliers carry them. I would advise at least 3 nozzles vs 2 -- I think it's a good idea to have one pointed at the fuel cell/pump/filter area up front, 1 pointed at the driver's leg/torso area, and one in the engine compartment pointed towards the carbs.
Opinions vary on all of this, of course.

I am very pleased with the Fuel Safe unit I bought from Patrickmotorsports in Phoenix. The fuel cell is in a stock 914 tank in the stock position.

As far as cells go,
Steve Limbert from Aircooled racing sells ATL and races a 914, he has the Green 914-6 GT recently in excellence. I buy race parts from him all the time, and he really takes care of what I need. His number is 717-432-4116. I think a thread on Lexan is on this site, if not call Chris Foley at CFR 860-647-8719. And good luck!

Boy, that is some great looking cars. I thought mine had alot done to it. You guys make me look like a rank beginner (which I am).
