914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 912 2.0 liter into a 914?

Hello i am Very new to the Porsche world currently i have a 73 1.8 914 and i just came across an opportunity to pick up 2 engines from a 912 2.0 liter and was wondering if i could get some thoughts on whether this would swap out into the 914 easily or not really fit at all?

The early (66-69) 912s had 1.6 liter engines. Those engines are basically late 356 engines, and while they are quite similar in many ways to ours, they are different in enough details that using them is not that simple.

The 1976-only 912E had a 2.0 motor which is just about identical to the 75-76 2.0 914 engine. (The exhaust and fuel injection systems were different, but the basic engine is the same.)

Look at the cylinder heads. If there are exhaust ports on the front and rear of the head, the engines are 356 or 912 engines. Or Bug engines, which are similar but much less expensive. If the exhaust ports come out the bottom of the head, the engines are 912E ones. (Or late VW Bug engines, or 914 engines, or 411/412 ones.)

If its a 912E engine, the tin, the engine crossbar, some of the intake setup, and the exhaust have to be swapped, but that's about it.
