I'm in.

Rob, I got my car off the jack stands and running yesterday. Drove it up and down the street. It's like a go cart. I've got pics but I need to reduce them to upload them to the site. I'll get them on tonight.

Paul

Posted by: watsonrx13 Feb 7 2005, 08:46 AM

Congrats Paul. Can't wait to see the car. Post some pics and let me know which pic you want me to put on the TampaBay914 site....

Posted by: Joe Ricard Feb 7 2005, 12:23 PM

I'm in if I can pick up my door skins too. If not maybe next time.

Posted by: iiibdsiil Feb 7 2005, 01:09 PM

Sorry, but I'm doubtful. My six is going in the car but I don't think it will ready by then. Also, I think I have to work for Skip Barber in Savannah that weekend. I really want to do one of these breakfasts and I will assure my car will be done for the next one and it will amaze you.

I think that the HSR races are that weekend in Sebring. Maybe a great roadtrip.
Just a suggestion.

FYI,
The Suncoast PCA Swapmeet will be on March 12.
It will be at Dave White Motorsports.

Steve, do you know Mark Larsen, radio guy and 914 daily driver?

I can email him but he gets hundreds of emails a day.

Paul

Posted by: smg914 Feb 9 2005, 08:48 AM

I certainly know of him but have never met him and I didn't know he drove a 914. He is quite entertaining on the radio. What do you know about his 914?

Mark was at the Dave White swap meet last year and drove his car. I think its yellow?

I hung out with him and Rouser knows him. But he is not a 914 expert, just a guy that likes the car.

I use to listen to Mark on his show on AM970 - WFLA, but now he hosts http://www.themorningmagazine.com/ on AM1040 - WWBA.

Mark was looking for a buyer for his mint Orange '73, so I put him in touch with the guy in Conn. who was (previously) looking at that eBay LE in Ft. Meyers that I did a PPI on. The guy flew down for business in Orlando and drove to Tampa to see the car. A bit of chin and head scratching, some grunts and groans, they both made nice-nice and the car was flatbedded to Conn.

Mark's looking for a Boxster now; he wanted A/C and I told him I'd shoot him in the balls if he hacked up that '73, ergo the sale.

Posted by: smg914 Feb 15 2005, 11:29 PM

Rouser,

Are you sure you're talking about Mark larsen? The guy with the very nice signal orange '73 914 2.0 at Dave White's Swap Meet last year was Mark Zintel. The reason I know this is because I used to own that car before Mark did. I sold the signal orange 914 after I purchased the sahara beige 914.

Posted by: URY914 Feb 16 2005, 07:26 AM

Steve,
Mark was at the Swap meet and had a orange car also.
To bad he sold it.

P

Posted by: smg914 Feb 16 2005, 02:33 PM

Hmmm, I did not know that.

Quote: Too bad he sold out.

Ah so what, I believe he's a liberal anyway.

Mark Larsen stated he purchased the car from you, and has since sold it to Michael A. Stroz from Conn.

I haven't spoken to Mark recently, so I don't know if he's purchased the Boxster yet.

I'm sure he would be insulted to be called a Liberal; he's more of a conservative-leaning Libertarian, which means he talks about politics without every-other-word being "BASH BUSH!" rolleyes.gif

My sincere apology Mark, for the unsubstantiated characterization.

Two weeks to go...

Posted by: carr914 Feb 19 2005, 09:13 PM

I'll be there. My 914-6 won't be. My dad died today and I have to go home to Watkins Glen in the next couple of days, so the reconstruction gets delayed again. I decided not to work for Skip in Savannah that weekend just so I could be with you guys. Plus it will give me a chance to go the HSR event in Sebring too. Anybody up for a drive to Sebring after breakfast?
T.C.

Posted by: smg914 Feb 19 2005, 10:24 PM

Really sorry to hear about your dad TC.

I'm sure I'd be for the trip to Sebring but I don't think I'd be willing to drive the 914. Which means if we leave directly from the breakfact I wouldn't be able to bring a 914 to the breakfast.

TC, just saw this, very sorry about your Dad... looking forward to seeing you again...

Wow, I had to go back 5 pages to find this....

Posted by: URY914 Feb 23 2005, 10:28 AM

Rob,
I'll bring my car (or what is left of it). My wife and daughter want to come too.

OT: I played golf at Walden Lake on Sunday. Which hole do you live on?

Between the pit pugs and Robs Attack Dashounds there won't be any ankles left to stand on. laugh.gif
Just start chewing on the feet and ankles and wait for the rest of him to fall into reach. w00t.gif
Now that my autocross event is cancelled I thought about going to Tampa. But kinda want to pic up my door skins at the same time. Plus see Rob's car drive up to the breakfast under it's own power. clap.gif Or which ever comes first. lol2.gif

Tomorrow's the day of the breakfast....should have lots to talk about... wink.gif

Posted by: smg914 Mar 4 2005, 10:10 AM

Rob,

Ray Oakes and I will be there. My tennis captain is mad at me but 914's must come before team tennis. Ray will have his LE with him but I may not be able to bring a 914 because I'm going directly to Sebring from the breakfast and I want to drive down in my Jeep.

I talked to Joe Courey last night and he will not be able to make it. So sorry we won't get to see his beautiful Phoenix Red '74 2 Liter.

Rob Quarles is going to stop by but won't be able to say very long. Maybe only a half hour or so.

I never heard back from Jeff and Robin Pelszynski. I will send them a reminder.
