Hey Gang,
Great News! Jaime (oldschool) has agreed to ride shotgun as camerman on the journey across this great land of ours. We will be putting together a real video documentary on the 914 and it's owners as we make the trek.
Jamie has agreed to voulteer his time whch means, he's not getting paid to do this for us. I've built a simple "Kickstart" campaign to help cover his costs on the trip. We're not looking to get rich, just cover some of the expenses for the week and for the editing.
We will be interviewing 914 owners as we cross the country. Please check the schedules in the cross-country thread. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=248663
With your help, we'll have one hell of a video documentary of our little cars and the people who help keep them together.
I've put together a few rewards for donations:
1. For each $10.00 donated, you'll receive a PMB "rotor/caliper" keychain.
2. For each $20.00 donated, you'll receive a commemorative t-shirt, a keychain and "Benefactor" statis in the credits for the documentary.
3. For each $100.00 donated, you'll receive 20% off a PMB caliper order and all of the above.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me you'll edit together all the clips of people walking up during filming "finally, a Fiat documentary" or "hey what kind of cars are those, oh are you sure?"
And you could run the clips off to the side while credits are rolling at the end of the documentary - you know, like outtakes or bloopers. It's a part of the 914 experience whether we like it or not, right. Why not poke fun at it!!!

(Iwould never let that happen to one of my print customers) Kickstarter isn't a new service. It has been around for some time, and provides some useful functions. The primary purpose that it serves is providing a mechanism that allows the donors to be assured that they will only make the contribution if the overall fundraising goal is met. If the goal isn't met, no one pays. In this case, that is not really an issue. In fact, it may present an issue - if the $6,000 goal isn't met, no one is charged, and therefore Eric and Jamie receive nothing. Let's help him reach the goal.

I called the other day looking for some advice on how to set up my brakes. I had a lot of questions. I was told Eric was very busy working on a 914-6. They put me on hold and who comes to talk to me , Eric . I had no idea you were getting the car ready for this adventure. Your the man!! Always ready to help! Even when you could least afford to time wise.

Come People! This is a worthy 914 project. There is nothing you will see or do that will raise awareness for our cars like a project like this. I know you all will spend more that $ 20.00 for pizza and beer in one night this week.
Raising awareness raises interest, demand and value. It's all good. the next time you think about that paint job to rust repair and wonder if you can justify the cost vs the value remember this project.

not true..unless the goal is met ... no fee or requirement to pay...if you send direct..its not through kickstart... a local skate shop did the same ..and if goal is not met...no charge..two different things...if you donate direct to whoever not through Kickstart it does not apply..
your decision...but not true kickstart..if you want start a donation page...kickstart has helped a ton of visions and is a conduit....to provide a goal amount..

If you 3 end up splitting the difference just to make the goal, I'll offer each one of you 2 hours or so of design and CNC work.
For reference I have about 2 hours into drawing/programming and machining this plate I made yesterday to adapt a Ford T5 transmission to a Volvo motor.

I've just got back from my interview and hanging with Eric, Andy, Jamie, Mike, Lee, James, Russ, and others at Turtle Mountain. Timing was bad for some, I heard they got there early and couldn't stay. Such is life, though.
I'm already second-guessing the things I talked about, kinda wishing I'd brought up the human element ... after all, what truly got me into these cars was the camaraderie of their owners as much as the car and its performance capability itself! As evidenced by the fact that this whole documentary thing is even going on, it's truly an amazing car, down-to-earth and simple with so much potential, owned by some amazing down-to-earth simple people. There, I said it.
Anyway, it was a big kick to talk on camera about techie stuff that I've only just begun to understand about the build of my own car. I surely am no expert, but I had fun. Forgot to mention so many things, but then it's not a documentary about my car, but all of 'em.
I'm sorry you guys didn't get to be fed, they tend to close up early in Rio Rancho. Eric, Andy, and Jamie, and Mike too, hopefully you're finding some late-night chow. I hope the rest of the drive goes well!

We did reach the goal but as JP mentioned, it's not over. I'm absolutely sure we'll go over budget on edits etc. So, if you need a really cool shirt, your name in the credits roll or, best bang for the buck, 20% off your upcoming caliper order... The Kickstarter campaign should still be active for a few days.
We really wanted to THANK YOU for your support and encourage you to keep the drive alive.
Ironically, we had people thanking us for coming out and filming them... This documentary would be absolutely "nothing" without you coming out and sharing your story.
Hopefully we'll meet a bunch more tonight and tomorrow!

think that was part of the deal for donating to the kickstarter fund -don't remember if there was a minimum donation amount to get that perk look back thru this thread I'm sure the info is there
