914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Personalized Plates

If any of you saw my post on incompetent nitwits, just wanted to set the record straight. After 5 months of phone calls and letters, CA DMV got a person on the job to fix the mess. I have her name and phone number if you ever have a problem, but it will cost you big time! Here are my plates. Not centered, but WTF smile.gif

You can imagine the looks I get. biggrin.gif

I have a whole album of people in my rear-view mirror pointing and laughing. I even have a few of other people taking pictures.

So for the 914 I think I'm going to do NAMDRAH and see if other people notice in their rear-view mirror...

I was going to do "PORT 80" to feed my geek side...We'll see when I get it all back together.

Hmmm... Tommy Tutone, right? In the song, doesn't the number come off a men's room wall? laugh.gif

That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer was driving George's mother around in the proctologist's car. Everyone around was yelling and blowing their horns, because the liscense read "ASSMAN". George's mother thought they were all complimenting her! laugh.gif

I went to pick up my car one day from the Saab dealer, and all the mechanics were outside laughing. I know them all, but this was funny....

The porter had parked my car next to another 9-5 that had a license plate that said :GOO GUY: (He is the "Goo Gone" inventor.)

So there they were...Goo Guy and Hard Man....Pretty funny.

John, are those plates you actually have in your collection, or just images from the DMV website? If you have them, are they available for a negotiated price??? smile.gif

Jenny, go here.....they won't ship to CA. But if you purchase them as a "gift" to someone outside of CA....I'm sure an arrangement can be made to get them to ya.... dry.gif

I've had a few plates made by them....they use a lighter gauge metal but otherwise can not be found to be any different than the real ones....

BTW....you people with personalized plates. There is no database "easily" available for a Police Ofiicer to know "when" a personalized plate was issued.....so if you have one and want it in the earlier color of blue background and yellow letters which is period correct for the 914s.....

Posted by: ClayPerrine Feb 9 2005, 10:38 AM

Jenny.

If you talk real nice to me, I will get you a Cali plate with 8675309 on it. I can have it come here, and privately mail it to you.

I used to work with a lady whos husband was caught cheating on her. She divorced him, and in the divorce she got his new Corvette.

She used to drive by his work every day so everyone there could see her in the Corvette.

The license plate said "Was His"

Sorry Jenny. I do have a lot of plates, but not the ones you are looking for.
Those are ones I created on http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/licensemaker.cgi.
I do have a source for top quality European custom vanities.
I don't know about the link Mike Z. provided.
I have never seen any U.S. replicas that I liked.

One of my favorite personalized tag sightings was an 80's Ferrari TR with the plate REDHEADS. I was looking at the car when a great looking red headed woman jumped in the TR and drove off in a haze of exhaust and burned rubber. Loved her the car and the tag. I also saw a 911 Cab which was also red with a red head at the wheel with the tag 2 REDS. I wonder if it was the same woman?

What is the deal with off center personalized plates? Does the owner not center the text on the request form or does the plate maker just not care or pay attention? I think it would drive me nuts.

It's cool since it goes with my off center 914 hat wacko.gif
