914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 3.7 quarts.. Really?

Posted by: rick 918-S Mar 5 2015, 09:52 PM

I searched but couldn't find the info I was looking for. I thought there was a thread on oil level. Anyone have an issue with running 4 quart over 3.7? Wasn't there a thread discussion on running the engine slightly over full? I thought it was better to do that or was it for AX only?

4 works for me, never measured, just our in four.
Drive it like you stole it, it will burn off soon enough.

If you have leaky tubes it will leak more. I've never ran over the line but I do keep'em topped up all the time.

BTW checking the T4 oil level is very sensitive to the car being level itself. That goes for all t4 engined cars/bus.

No issues at all; in fact going up to a half-quart over is recommended for autoX cars. It helps keeps the oil pickup submerged just a tiny bit longer.

Good question.
I fill to the dip stick line as I have a Tuna Can. Also, the size of the Oil Filter you use might need to be factored in, as well as a remote Oil Cooler if you have one, wouldn't it?.
