This one is WAY OFF-TOPIC but I need the help of fellow 914 owners, in order to make a dream come true for my best friend.

Being chosen as the Maid of Honor and helping in the wedding preparations we decided to sign, Mary and her fiance Minh, up for a radio "Dream wedding contest". Now the story is that we need people to help us vote for them and would be very grateful if you could all give us some support. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

The other admins might shoot me for this one but Mary and I have spent the last 10 years busting around in my 914 (This 914 "Little Guy" was the love of my life) and she had the greatest adoration for my car but was never able to get one for herself. Then the day came when we looked for wedding locations and I picked her up in the "new" 914. She had the hugest smile on her face belting into the 5-point harness and holding on for dear life as I busted through the hills to visit various wineries. Here we are today, Mary still has a passion for the 914s.


Now to their story, Mary and Minh...



The candlelight in the room whispered a new future. Minh presented a gift as I waited with anxiety. As Minh got on one knee and proposed, I was in a dream state of disbelief. Being together since high school, for ten years Minh swore he’d never wed. My body trembled and grabbed him to make sure the proposal was real. He chose a $13 ring and informed me we’d pick a real one out together. The following month we bought a house and my ring had to wait. Over a year later I don’t have a real ring but I have a home. We’re each other’s opposite and best friend. We have a true love that’s rare to find and what many people spend their whole lives searching for. Minh gave me a dream proposal; help us to have a dream wedding for the rare love we found.

Thank you soo much for voting, I know this is out of line, but I also know the 914 family is always there when in need. I can say this from personal experience.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, multiple votes make no difference, the tally (The one in the parenthisis) doesnt change with each vote you do. It onlyt akes the first one from that IP. The rest are just lost in cyberspace. However, if you are on a dialup, or have access to multiple networks or comuters at other locations, you could vote and make it count.

It was over at noon our time. Something is a little fishy. The other couple was going up by 50+ in under 4 minutes at 1am our time ??? 100's and 100's of votes where going their way at 2 and 3am in the morning.

It appears a local TV station might get a good story out of this.

It also appears the other couple recieved over 200 votes in the last 3 minutes ?

Ok, What just happened? I hit reply and got this message:

Then I hit back and tried it again and it worked. What is going on? That is the second time it has happened since the server came back up.

Fishy?? Doesn't really sound or look fishy...just looks like the other couple did what Birgit did and enlisted total strangers to vote. They just had a 'bar crowd' to do it.

Well it appears that there was something fishy going on in the end and even though the other couple got 200 extra votes in the last 3 minutes
Mary and Minh got into the finals by winning this round

I bet after the voting ended, they sorted out the multi votes form the same IP address. The rules said if multiple votes came from the same address, ALL votes from that address would be DQ'd. So, us good honest porch owner wannabees prevailed in the end.

914club’s support pushed us over the edge and into the final round of
voting. Minh and I (Mary) watched you guys and gals kick ass when we needed

Most of you knew that there would be a second round of voting, this is
where a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix. Since something fishy
was going on , with the competing couple during the voting process,
the radio station has decided to change the voting procedure. Now they
are asking:


To vote for one of our finalists, click here and send an Email ...

and be sure to include the following (failure to do so will result in
the vote not counting!):

• The Entire Name of the Couple You are Voting For (i.e. Mary & Minh)
• First Name
• Last Name
• Phone Number
• City and State

The director at KEZR told me that the code for their voting systems was solid, so I’m not sure why they would change their voting methods in the middle of a competition.

Those of you that have Yahoo, aol, hotmail, etc. e-mail accounts will not be able to access the link above (in MaryD’s post), since the radio station changed the code. If you cannot access the link, please open a new e-mail and copy and paste the information below:

It didn’t take much to get Mary and Minh to sign up and start posting, only a little hand holding.

For a long time now I have been talking about the 914 family and all of the support that the 914club has to offer, now Mary and Minh are fortunate to experience the support for themselves.

Mary is so blown away about everyone being so caring and offering help that she wants to hug every single one of us.

That is what came up for me although it was really messed up. I don't know what email program they were trying to fill but it didn't work on mine. Everything wound up in the 'to' address section.

This may be the only way that works. The mail window that opens from Mary's link and from the radio station page seem to have incorrect address formatting. Got a bounce from Mary's link, the station link I can't send at all.

Apparently there are four couples for the finals, three of whom I don't recall being in the original group...

It does read a bit strange but from their rules page "Grand prize winner will be selected on Tuesday, February 22th between 3 and 7pm, from the finalist who has received the most votes. "

HI Everyone!

Thank you so much for all your support. We are all are waiting to hear who won. They will announce the winners on Tues, Feb. 22nd between 3p and 7p PST. As for the radio station's website, you are correct. They have different dates stated for announcing the winning votes and other information on how to vote that is INCORRECT. Over the weekend, friends informed us that they sent complaints re bad information and the website being down for votes to the radio station.

The voting took place over the weekend from Feb. 18th at 7p PST to Feb 21st at 12 noon PST. So now we just sit and wait for tomorrow to see if our hard work paid off. Whether we win or loose, we are loyal fans of the 914 Club and will never forget the amazing team work this club did for total strangers!!

Lots of love to everyone!!! Minh, Birgit and I will let you know as soon as we hear something tomorrow. Please let us know if you have any other questions or are confused by anything else from the radio station's website. Keep those fingers crossed for us!!

Thank you to all the voters that supported us over and over again. We won’t know who the winner is until 3-7 PM tomorrow. The one thing that we do know is that you guys defintely put hte pedal to the metal! It’s nice to know that there people like you who can take the time to do this for us. On another note, boy has it been a strange contest or what?

I’m thinking of running a contest of my own called “Do You Remember The Pain?” J

1: There was that the initial voting issue where many people saw that their votes going to the wrong couple.

2: There were moments when the other couple made huge advances in vote count whenever we were drastically ahead.

3: KEZR switched voting methods in the middle of the contest from click based to email based even though they expressed that their code was perfect. We think that this turned off a lot of voters for all couples. Personally we thought that click based was more exciting since the votes could be tallied live. The email method was really drab and anti voting. If any more information was needed just to cast a vote, you would have to use your social security number, credit number and sell your unborn child. Somehow I have a feeling that we influenced the voting method switchover; hopefully there won’t be any negative affects from it.

4: Last Friday, Many people had thought that the second round of voting was over before it even began due to a message on their site stating that the weeks round of voting was over. This is because they never updated the page to specify the next round of finals was about to begin.

5: KEZR’s website stated weirdglish (Weird English) “Voting period is from 7:00pm on Friday, February 25th until 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 21st.”

6: Clicking the voting link on KEZR’s website worked for many, but threw the subject and body into the “To” field for some of you.

7: The voting link wasn’t friendly for those that used yahoo type web mail.

8: The voting email address was different from one page to another. Was it contest@kezr.com or contests@kezr.com (with an “s”)?

Well, all in all we made it out alive with our hands, our toes and even our underwear. Consider ourselves lucky and let’s wait to hear the announcements.

Well, the radio station said that they would announce the winner between 3-7pm today. That didn't happen so Mary called the radio station several times and when she finally got an answer, all they told her was that they were calling all of the voters one by one to make sure that the votes were legitimate. Wow, sounds like that will take DAYS...

We'll keep you posted and still keep our fingers crossed until then.

KEZR has no real updates; they said hopefully a couple of more days.



We respect that they are trying to verify the votes, but we would expect some kind of delay notice to listeners and followers of this event by now.



Oh BTW, for those of you that are interested, there’s another contest from KEZR. One Grand prize winner will receive new ski pants, jacket, gloves, goggles, helmet and an over night stay in Lake Tahoe. The only catch is if you do win, all the snow might be melted by the time you actually find out who the winner is.
