914 V8 Conversion guys...

Can anyone with a carbureted SBC V8 conversion tell me how much clearance there is between the top of your air cleaner and the underside of the engine lid?

Someone gave me this setup:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/7525K/10002/-1

Manifold only:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/7525/10002/-1

But it wont fit under a stock Corvette hood, so Im not sure it will fit the V8 914 either?

I guess I could use everything in the kit and get the low profile version of the manifold:

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&Ntk=all&Jnar=0&itemPerPage=60&Ne=1%2B2%2B3%2B13%2B1147708&searchTerm=C-26+with+carb

So the questions are:

Will there be engine lid clearance issues?

Clearance issues with the rear carburetor?

I don't have a way to test fit these so any help would be great...

Thanks guys,

Steve

There is NOT a lot of clearance. With a edelbrock on a performer RPM I have a 2" filter and the base is beat down a bit so it sits lower. If I run a holley with a spacer it basically touches the engine lid. This is a modified lid without the support, it literally touches the grills/letters

You might be able to do the same with this setup but I doubt it. I really doubt this will fit, I bet it'll stick out of the engine bay an inch.

Honestly I would not run that on a 914. If it wont piss off the person that gave you that I would sell it, and grab a performer rpm and your edelbrock carb of choice, or go throttle body fuel injection/MPFI.

use this to compare manifolds, it has a tech section that gives the measurements. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/catalogs/

Dual quads look neat but they can be a bear to sync and are a complete waste of time in a 914. You will hit the front of the engine lid as it drops at the hinge as it opens.

You should sell it to finance a nice low rise manifold and single carb setup. Better yet go with an EFI system.
