Looking to replace the current muffler on my 1976 2056cc motor. Would like to use the factory rear valance cutout or possibly make a second cutout on the passenger side to keep a stockish look. Suggestions for a good reasonably priced setup for stock heat exchangers. Would like to keep the sound at a reasonable level.

Triad makes a real nice exhaust. you can get dual outlet or hidden right outlet if you want the stock look. Supposed to have the best sound and performance too.

Agree with the Triad recommendation. A Bursch muffler is less expensive but their life expectancy seems short. I took the collector from a Bursch and welded in a Maganaflow for about $80 - for me an inexpensive solution given I had the Bursch system and collector was in fine shape, only the muffler went.

I'm running a 2056 with dual carbs - to give you an idea with a Magnaflow:
