My car is off to paint. The red is coming off and we are going back to blue (Adriatic blue)
Perfect! Adriatic Blue is one of my favorite colors - it will look terrific.
We'll need lots of after pic's
As you would expect there is some rust as well as shoddy repairs by DAPO
Good choice.
i see a Packard back there
Tell me about your wheel and tire set up with stock fenders: looks like you have 6x16 front and 7x16 rear. What size tires are you running? Good luck with your project and lets see some progress pics.
Here is the major repair from the DAPO. In some places there was an inch of bondo on the inner fender well
Here is the new quarter assembly to replace the mess on my car
Arrest Me Red (Guards Red) is my favorite color. Tangerine is next.
Fuchs look great, nice color choice, good luck with the Paint Job!

Congratulations
Get those wheels off.... Paint can get in the strangest places.
Now for the fun part....
hurry up and wait
Congratulations! Nothing finer than a freshly painted 914.
The body work has finally begun. In addition to the gaping hole the whole front end was tweaked as well
The replacement fender is now being trimmed to fit this hole
Excellent. I look forward to seeing the color on that car. Adriatic Blue looks outstanding on our cars. One of my favorite colors.
Awesome! I am looking forward to seeing the progress of this car!
Cheers
Wow. One thing leads to another. Major surgery. Good luck!
Tom it will be very close if I'm done in time for the dream cruise
Update: not even close
David
Here is how he matched up the front end
In some cases he welded inside the wheel well and some places he welded in the trunk
Looking good! That patch looks to have been fitted well. Can't wait to see the finished product
Very nice work.
This past week my body guy has installed and welded in the L&R anchors for the prop rods on my GT headlight mechanism. He has also finished fitting the hood, doors, eyebrows & HL covers.
Windshield is out and ready for primer. When he went to remove the windshield trim he discovered that the windshield was loose and the only thing holding it in was the trim.
All the body work is complete as well as primer. Next block sanding and guide coat he even welded in the tab for the bumper tops.
now THAT is a gorgeous color!
I think she was beautiful before AND AFTER
why is it that whenever I see a fresh paint job, I quickly begin to wonder if that is a good color for my previously signal orange car that is now rattle can primer black?
Great looking color! Congrats!
Great color! Nice job.
That is just beautiful. I love that color.
Hands down, Adriatic Blue is my favorite color on a 914.
Looks great, keep the photos coming!!!!!
They painted the mirror housing?!?!?!
Are you going with OEM trim, or body color, or black or?
Lookin good!
I have both a blue & black mirror but I'm undecided as to which one I will use. My door handles will definitely be blue. All of the other pieces will be satin black (targa trim, bumpers etc)
David
Looks beautiful. I can't wait to get some paint on mine.
What type and brand of paint did you use? Single stage urethane or a base coat / clear coat?
You didn't really use that ancient can your painter found.
Oh hell no. That old can of paint was just a joke
David
My car comes home on Monday. The hood is a little proud due to the new seals
Very nice work.
Adriatic blue is a great color for a 914 and you don't see it often.
Where did you get your windshield? It looks original with the bubble curve on the upper portion compared to the reproduction who are flat.
To the best of my knowledge it is the original windshield
David
Very cool. Love the wall art.
This really wants me to get the 73 stripped of paint!
Well done and thanks for sharing!
What's going on with your sail panels, Dave
Do you mean I can't use those magnets to hold the sail panel vinyl on?
Ah-Ha
Very, very nice, wow!
Looking good! Its come a long way.
Will it make it around the block under its own power before the snow flies?
Very slow progress this week but I do love my blue door handles
Your car looks great! Love that color!
I'm not sure how I feel about the blue mirrors and handles yet... but kudos to you for trying something different!
Congrats!
I'm not a fan of the shiny silver weather it be chrome or stainless steel so that left either powder coat black or matching blue.
David
Great looking color! Love the black trim, really sets it off!

Car looks awesome Dave. Can't wait to see it in person when It is all done. If I can help you with anything let me know.
Not to Hijack the thread...
Got this back from paint last month and it is going to be a VERY long process
to get it back together... Had to push it outside today to configure the garage for winter.
Keeping it under the lift just made me bang my head on the lift rails.
Now it will be in the middle bay.
Stainless Rear Bumper and new bumper pad look OK...
Awesome Love those blue mirrors and door handles.
