I had no idea that this existed, or that Porsche would have allowed it. A 1972 Wankel-engined Vette prototype was based on a 914 chassis. I'm not sure I like the design but it is a fascinating piece of history.

Now that I see this pic, I recall seeing it in MT or R&T back then! It was one more eye candy for a starving college student, dreaming of what I might get after graduation & in a good job!
Porsche consulted on many prototypes & models for many other mfgrs - both then & now!

This GM experiment sacrificed a real /6.
At least it still exists. You may be able to contact the current owner and see if he can find a Porsche VIN, it might have been stripped when GM sent it Pininfarina and replaced with a GM prototype number.
There was a thread here on this car in the not too distant past.
I, for one, would like to know more about it.
