914World.com _ 914World Garage _ A Corvette-914 link

I had no idea that this existed, or that Porsche would have allowed it. A 1972 Wankel-engined Vette prototype was based on a 914 chassis. I'm not sure I like the design but it is a fascinating piece of history.

Cool joint project!

Now that I see this pic, I recall seeing it in MT or R&T back then! It was one more eye candy for a starving college student, dreaming of what I might get after graduation & in a good job! drooley.gif

Porsche consulted on many prototypes & models for many other mfgrs - both then & now!

Do you know the VIN?

At least it still exists. You may be able to contact the current owner and see if he can find a Porsche VIN, it might have been stripped when GM sent it Pininfarina and replaced with a GM prototype number.

There was a thread here on this car in the not too distant past.

I, for one, would like to know more about it.

If you follow the link in post three there are four links for this car. The last one is for an article about the current, as of 2005, owner.

I see Fiero elements in that design.

Obviously Chuck Beck took some cues from this
