Just checking up on the Mazda Laguna Seca cornerstone (fundraiser) of late last summer...anybody heard of any progress ? I think enough $ was collected for a couple of inscribed bricks , something like "914world.com / place jackstands here"
Anybody ??
you cant say "laid" on this forum. SLITS and MikeZ go crazy.
The Brick company called me 2-3 weeks ago, they were just starting to
engrave the bricks.
They had extended the offer with Laguna Seca, because they said the
offer had gone so well and they wanted to let others in on it.
I was hoping to take some pictures on saturday (2-19), as I thought I'd be
over in the area on a drive with the 6speedonline group, but the drive has been
cancelled due to the rain.
I am hoping to get over there asap to take some pictures.
The lady did tell me that the Brick placement plans had changed, that they were
now going to Start at the corkscrew, circle around it and then go from there.
She told me that "you guys were one of our first orders, so you 'should' get a
pretty good spot".
We'll see

Enough money was collected for 2 bricks. One 12 x 12 and one 8 x 8. |

Oh great, now people will not only know 914 owners are cheap, but that they can't spell either.
we'll just blame it on the engraving company.
But just in case...
I'll contact them and see what we can have done about that.
Are we absolutely sure the correct spelling is
Zeltweg????

YOU couldn't have mentioned THAT a month or so ago? |

Well, at least SOMETHING will be getting laid soon.
I'm emailing Mary right now,
she says:

Hi Scott, Yes, your bricks were sent to the engraver on 1/20/05. Let me know if you have any other questions! |
Here is Mary's reply:

Hi Scott! It is not too late to make this correction. We have not shipped the bricks to Mazda yet, so we could put your corrected brick on the same "pallet order" for their first installation. You do not have to buy a whole new brick, but there is a redo fee of $50.00 to make this correction. Since this is a logo, you would need to get me the correct logo and the $50 payment & I can fax you another paper proof of your revised logo. Let me know what you would like to do! |
How's this?

(german accent) Yah, das Gud!
What would they charge to put the english translation on the other side?

Is there a bathroom nearby the brick? With all that german, you're just naturally gonna wanna take a leak (from all the bier).

Good thing that none of the tracks were named Amtazzlewurm, einlassrohr, or zeppelin. Spellcheck bitte
...Happy that the bricks are getting laid properly !
I just got an e-mail from Scott. The revised art has been received and accepted by the brick people. Everything is a go.
Scott paid the $50 fee for the corrected brick. After all he has done to make this happen, I don't think it is fair for him to eat the cost. Are there a few members who would be willing to help him out? If you didn't donate on the original thread, now is the time. If you can send him 5 or 10 bucks that would be great. His Paypal account is werksracer@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance,
John
I'll pitch in but I think the misspelling would have shown some underdog grass roots controversial "914" character. I guess the historic sixers are on another level...
