914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Add Oil Pressure Gauge inside engine bay

Posted by: ndfrigi May 8 2015, 02:48 PM

Can I request if someone can share a link where I can buy a kit to add oil pressure gauge inside engine bay and still retain the original oil pressure light.

And any installation thread on this site please!

thanks!

you could use the VDO dual sender VDO 360 009 on the grease gun hose (or VDO-150-752 if you can find it) and use the correct range VDO oil pressure gauge mounted where you want it (why wouldn't you want it where you could see it while driving?). I found lots of stuff just by searching for VDO, JEGS, try Pelicanparts, GPRparts. Someone on this site mounted a mechanical gauge on the engine, don't recall the username of the poster but I recall that when you said you want it in the engine bay.

A grease gun extension and a MPT threaded T from Ace.

Here is the thread where the debate rages about what kind of thread is in the case.

I used a 10mm Metric thread to 1/8" MPT adapter and it worked like it was supposed to.

Why not installing the oil gauge inside cockpit?

1. I think more job to do it and a little bit more money.
2. I just want to make sure I have a good oil pressure by checking it once in a while since I don't really drive this car regularly.

But if the expense is not much and not more job to do it? Maybe it is better inside where you can see it. Like removing the clock along the center console and put the oil gauge.

Thank you again!

Makes sense. Then I would think you'd use the VDO items which would only take routing a wire from the engine bay to the cockpit when you'd want the gauge inside when you're ready...

I did read the thread regarding VDO. Thanks!
