Those of you who install the Rennshifter please post your experiences with it. If it improves shifting considerably, I'll have to overcome the CW in me and buy one myself.

I have it installed and ran at the track with it. It feels real nice and greatly improves my shifting confidence. It feels like a gated shifter, no more moving the shift handle in circles trying to find a gear. However; you need to adjust it properly on the shift rod and you still need to have your bushings in good shape. I took it off at the track to work on my pedals and didn't get it adjusted right at first and had trouble finding third when coming down from 4th, kept catching 5th. I came in and we adjusted it and no more problems. So it's not a majic stick but a big improvement over the stock stick. I recommend it after you install new bushings. It will feel like a new car.

TimT, can you give me an idea about how long the throws (in your 914) are now as opposed to stock? Is the gear selection more precise for you like it is for drew365?

Scottb, you can find them here http://www.rennshift.com .

Posted by: TimT Jun 6 2003, 06:43 PM

When I bought my 914 it had a weltmeister short shift installed, so I have never experienced a stock 914 shifter.

The shift throws with the rennshift installed are about 6 ins total..(meaning from third to fourth) etc. Of course I havent measured this.. its just what I think the measurements are.

And yes the gear selection is more precise. Additionally, the shifter always returns to center... i.e. the 2-3 shift plane

Thanks. I guess that's another upgrade I'll have to make.

I wanted some of them for my 2000 Dakota Quad Cab, but had to sell that beast due to illness...

Gotta better "beast" now smile.gif

Thanks again, Curvie
