914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Part for Engman

Posted by: skline Feb 21 2005, 02:41 AM

Finished up cutting up the car tonight, mostly Clayton, here is the part he cut off for Engman to replace the one in his car. We hope this will fit his needs. There is not one bit of rust on this part at all. Looks like the guy when over a dip and bent the tow eye backwards, but that can be bent back. I will post a few pics of it and pics of the rest of the cut up car. This is not the 71, we are on hold on that one as someone expressed interest in it. The 71 is extremely straight but needs the hell hole repaired. If I had the time, I would repair it myself. It is not through the long so it is just a minor repair. So we may not be cutting it up after all. The guy is looking for an early car to convert to a 6. This would be a good candidate.

sawzall-smiley.gif sawzall-smiley.gif smilie_pokal.gif You MUST have some cool toys to do that... welder.gif welder.gif sawzall-smiley.gif

I would have gone through 10,000 blades to do that.

Oh ya..Here's one for that poor 914 that gave her life so other 914's could live to drive another day beerchug.gif beerchug.gif driving.gif driving.gif

By the way....

I did the whole car with 3 sawzall blades........

And a plasma cutter....

And a boat load of oil on the saw blades.. the trick on demo is to use oil on all the cuts.

The oil is then used as the cutting line... SIMPLE..!!

By the way.. I now understand what Brad meant when he was telling us about how a 914 frame rail (long) is connected. And what it takes to make it more rigid...

I learned a lot about the chassis mechanics of this car....

And I have a few ideas of my own.... (Scary) To tighten things up if I ever choose to make a half tube car. (scca)

Hey Mike (DR.EVIL... I have a few goodies for ya....

Compliments of the house...............................

I know it's harder to store and deal with, but it's easier to sell a left side longitudinal intact, rear shock tower to front door jamb. If it's a good part that is.

I think some of these cars rust on that left side laugh.gif

Well, the car that was cut up, the passenger side door frame was destroyed in an accident. Before we saw it, we thought about just keeping and fixing the car. Once we saw it, No way.
