Well.......flat eight Porsche engines ARE hard to come by.... the other eight cyl. engines, 1. have been done. 2. are water cooled. 3. have a kink in the middle.

Not too sure about the 'tribute' aspect of the original two cars.

I had plans to do a copy of the silver 914-8, steel hardtop with a suby engine instead of the 8. Just to get the look of the car. But the shell I just purchased came with steel flares already installed so I have to go another direction. Maybe a "Huey" tribute car.

No, your eyes are fine. The two 908-motored cars were made out of pre-production prototypes. (Similar to the infamous Number Four.) None of the panels are exactly the same as the production cars, all are slightly different. And that was before they modified the car to take the flat-eight engine.

The rumor mill says that there was one other 908-motored car built a couple or a few decades ago. I haven't heard of it in a long while though.

And since none of the body panels are stock, it would be tough to do a complete replica.

I dragged home this '68 Honda "Scrambler" CL90 a couple of days ago. Its complete, with 7400 miles. But that doesn't mean much. You might see I opened the valve covers, pulled the sparking plug, drained the oil/water mix, tried to get the generator and clutch covers off, etc. The engine is toast, gearbox is locked up, chain is rusted, cables will have to be replaced...But hey!, this will be easy compared to most 914 projects.

I better get the orange conversion DONE first.

My brother flew Navy C130s during the Viet Nam era and brought back many Honda 90s including one or two 90 Scramblers........ I must have put a thousand miles on them and never left our street.

Wow, that hurts. I had a 72 in similar condition. Actually the engine ran, but I had it out to work on a transmission problem and it was stolen out of my storage unit, along with my AC/DC welder a couple of years ago. Not sure which item I was most upset about. BUT, they did not find the seat which I think is in better condition than yours and if you send or pm me your address I will box it up and ship it to you. Hope all else goes well with it.

Au contraire, you took the picture upside down but your phone is smart enough to turn it around for you.
I looked into auto-rotating images for the board software, but it isn't actually all that simple to correctly detect rotated images.

The easiest way to avoid this is to remember which side is UP on your phone.

Sold that cab long ago right after we got the GT3. It had 200k+ miles on it and still paid for the GTI and F250.
For us, the GTI is a utility vehicle, hauls tons of stuff in it (cab could not do that) and F250 pulls the trailer... thumb3d.gif

Cayman S is my 914’s roommate! Since I have been busy working on the 914 the Cayman has been moved out to allow more working space.

My first car I bought at 15 was a 67 Alpine powered by a Toyota 20R engine. It was a blast to drive to high school at the time.

I have a thing for white cars, although the BB is next to the 914 in the garage.

My 914 sleeps with a 2012 GTI, pictured at the link below getting a wash. The 914 is restless while I'm in Detroit. Hopefully I can get the starter issue worked out when I get back in the fall.

Little cool yesterday so brought the 73 build off challenge car up to the garage from the barn to strip trunk paint. It stayed the night! With my 72 project. This was just a one nighter, but in 9 months if a 914 I like is available, I have a built in reason why it showed up on our doorstep.

Mine sleeps with all my bicycles tucked away in the behind it and in the winter will shack up with my fiesta. I don't want to know what they do when the garage door's shut.
